Exhuast Poppin losing power

I put on the N1 exhuast and downpipe and around 5000 to 6000 it rappidly pops and i loose a significant amount of power till i shift and it goes to a lower rpm. THen i just installed my j pipe off my evo turbo and now it happends around 4500 could this be becuase of exhuast leaks, air leaks, or boost leaks.

That sounds like either an ignition problem, really really bad intake/boost leak, or a pre-turbo exhaust leak. The first and latter are pretty easy to check.

If I were to be money it'd be the exhaust. Pull off your heat shield on the exhaust mani and check to make sure all the nuts are torqued to spec.

Well one of the studs on my o2 housing is stripped so one side fo the downpipe isnt bolted down tightly could that be it im getting that fixed this week. Also though my idol is ####ed up i got an automatic in nuetral and in park it goes from 1000 to 1500 and back down constintly till i put it in gear.

Do you have an aftermarket boost gauge installed? I am just curious if it isn't creeping way up there and you are running out of fuel.

Yea i do its reading steady at 10 no creep at all

I am not sure if you have or not, but if you haven't built a leak tester, I would try that. Make sure the car is warm before you check for leaks though, or you might not find em all, if there are any. www.vfaq.com has a faq for building one. First thing I'd do is check the plug wires, and change the plugs.

Haha I was planning on doing that today. LoL. I looked on the Vfaq and copuldnt find were it was to build one what sectin is it in?
