Any rate, this DSM has pushed me to the edge. It's depressing, I'm demotivated. I'm sad, and I'm trying to get this car up and on the road, not only for shootout but for when I move in September. I NEED ANYONE AND EVERYONE'S HELP LOCALLY WHO CAN COME OVER AND LEND A HAND OR MORE VALUABLY, A BRAIN!!

If anyone can help or has any ideas, text me. 412-589-2575. Want to come over and take a look? I'm free ALL DAY Sunday. Text me for the address. Let's get this bi*** running!! Any help is appreciated.

Here's a previous thread of my no start follies

Thank you.

I do t think you are getting a cam or crank sensor signal. I didn't see the tach moving.

If tach isn't moving then best bet is replacing crank sensor. Since that is where the, signal is, coming from. , simple replacement. Dont even have to remove the t belt.

Have you tried using ether yet?

From the way it sounded turning over it was not even trying to start. Idk how you have spark but I heard no combustion happening. Plus with a, still tach it really sounds like a ckp.

Since it appears no one will be stopping over, I'm gonna use this part of the day to actually work out. Later on, I'll continue to fiddle around with the DSM.

If I can get a good cam sensor off of someone to borrow, that'd be cool. I'll get a can of starting fluid.

You mean crank sensor not cam. If it was a,bad cam sensor car would start thrn shut off after two seconds. It w would sound different turning over if were the cam sensor & would start and shut off.

check ckp signal wire for 5v when timing plate is,btwn sensor and 0v when out.

That's not correct. When my cam sensor failed it would turn over allllll day and never even attempt to fire. This was on a 1998 TSI AWD.

I'm gonna fiddle with it tonight. Borrowed a cam sensor and raise the fuel pressure

update: I didn't install said borrowed cam sensor...but I noticed this: I wanted to check all my plugs and connections. For a brief second, I thought I accidently swapped the crank position sensor and ac compressor plugs...didnt...but the plug to my coil pack wasnt on :ohdamn: I still tried to start it with no luck..with and without the maf plugged..foot on the gas and not on the gas. Rather than before when all it did was crank, this time..it ALMOST turned over...I heard the glorious sound of my exhaust for about .3 seconds..then it cut off. simply put, this is a fuel issue now. i'm gonna let the plugs sit out overnight and let the cylinders dry, then instead of my current fuel setup (450's+afpr), I'll use the stock FPR, afterall, maf unplugged+450s+stock fpr is how it started briefly last time.

Well I myself personally experienced this and so did, another tuner on here. I told him to swap it because he, was having same, problem I did. It solved his problem.

That being said and thinking about it it,is, probably different for you, and I guess the OP to your cars are later and have the newer cam sensor so it may,be,different.

With a little help, got it.

It starts...that's step one... - YouTube

Now, that it started...now I have new concerns. The car ran for over a minute, I got an oil pressure gauge hooked up to the holset right at the turbo and the car NEVER had (or showed) oil pressure.

It started smoking at the turbo/manifold. It could be just some oil build up..but I wanted to play it safe...not stupid.

How it ran: Maf plugged in, 450's, stock fpr, cam angle sensor...180* out :-/

make sure all the oil sending unit wires are hooked up. is stock gauge working at all?

does the light turn on in the gauge, is there any oil leaks under the car.
