Okay so I looked around and the only two posts I could find on the P1600 code never got answered and mine was a different situation, so basically I rebult my head because I bent valves, but now that the car is running it is very sluggish and seems fine in park or nuetral but when I put it in drive it drops in rpms and sometimes dies, when I drove it the car didnt idle forward and when I pressed the gas it rose in rmp's very slowly and didnt accelerate until the turbo kicked in around 3 rpm's so thats when I tested it and it threw the code p1600, so i pulled the tcm and checked for burnt spots or smells and couldnt find any and I dont know what else it could be? I've tried unhooking the battery and resetting the computer but neither of those worked, also when I rebuilt the motor I put an ecu in from a manual car, but I also tried switching back to my old ecu which is oem and its still not fixing the problem, is there a fuse or relay I could check?

A quick google search brought up pin 91 going to the ecu on a manual trans ecu needs to be grounded. The manual doesnt ground it through the starter relay like the auto ecu does.

thanks and I had actually found that a couple days ago and I put my old ecu back in and still the same problem...

Another thread I read said the TCM is keeping the car in third gear, it sounds like that is your problem. Maybe try and source a known working TCM and see if your problem goes away.

I want to do that but I dont have any friends that have an eclipse and I dont know any of the people that drive dsm's around here, mine is a 99' eclipse gsx automatic

I'm also burning oil really bad

Ive dealt with andre a few times in the past and has always been a good guy to me. David, I had him socket my ecu and the solder job has failed twice so far(hairline fracture). Other than that I can not comment on his abilities. Although I do hear he does pretty good work. Andres shop is out in kent off of 212th and west valley a little ways. The number
Is 253-872-9495
