First of all i would like to say PR's customer service is amazing:hellyeah:, i called and ordered the kit and all my questions were answered and the kit was shipped out the same day, they even added the fed ex tracking number which was incredibly helpful. Looking forward to installing the kit this sunday! i am looking for a greddy type s BOV though or something similar if anyone has one they would like to part with, let me know thanks.

ok installed the FMIC kit today, fitment was great and the kit is amazing, but now when i go WOT or start to build boost the car stutters really bad and bogs down? i did not used the bov that came in the kit because one of the nipples was broken off, so i used my stock one.... im lost on why it would do that

thank you for the info, i retightened all the clamps and found the gasket for the BOV everything is in working order and the car is amazing now, the kit really is bang for the buck! next i just need injectors, GM mas and a MAF-T, just ordered my wideband and then some tuning :hellyeah: hoping for high 12's this season

Pics would be great for I am thinking about picking up this kit. It looks awesome and I have heard nothing but good things from people about it. Has anyone used this FMIC kit and used the BOV that comes with it? My stock BOV gets really annoying and makes a sqeeeeeeeeee noise when you give it a certain amount of throttle. Also did you use slim fans on your radiator or are the stock ones still on there?

i didnt use the bov that it came with, i did the crush mod on my stock bov and ran that. The kit is amazing and of course requires some modification but i was able to keep the stock fan, i did not have to move the alternator at all, all i did was trim the fan shroud a little for the j pipe to clear. But fitment was great, the hardware is great and performance top notch. i have a few pics but i can only post two on here i guess....

I have heard alot of good things about this FMIC. Let me know if you have any cooling issues. I was reading on the 2g thread that people might have cooling issues. By the way, did you buy the 3.5 inch thick core or the 2.75? And it looks like i can keep my fog lights :hellyeah:!

From the top picture, it looks as if the end tanks extend just a little fo far to keep the stock foglights (my bad) in place. You may have to remove them if you get this kit but then again, If you can retain the stock headlights, I would really consider getting this FMIC as well. Sounds like a good deal. Is this the CXRacing FMIC kit that punishment sells?

It looks exactly the same. I am looking into getting one once i land my new job. I have a 1gB so im hoping i can keep my fogs :). I guess I will have to do some measuring, I am thinking i might just have to trim the shroud around the fogs and thats all. If i cannot keep the fogs i guess thats a loss I am willing to take.

my 2 cents. the punishment racing FMIC kit for the 1g is a junk. the time I spent trying to make something fit or relocating the coolant reservoir so it won't look like someone mickey mouse something together is a total waste of my time. I rather pay a little more and get a better kit. to be fair, my kit might have been a older one BUT I bought it within a year ago and called PR about my problems and they basically brush me off, saying it just needs some adjustment or other people didn't have that problem. Go ask andre at PINA how far off my intercooler pipes was. He had to lenghten them by 2".

I don't know if what I am about to say is correct; however, I have been lurking arround and have heard with the older kits there were a lot of issues with piping not fitting with the 1 and 2g's. I have seen a lot of good reviews recently about this kit for both the 1g and 2g. Everyone says all they had to do was cut away a little bit for the piping to route through the front. With the older kits I have heard that there were problems with the BOV being to high or the piping being WAY off. Though I have also heard people saying PR has awesome customer service, but then again not everyone gets the same treatment from everyone. It sucks that your kit didn't fit correctly, I am only hoping that the newer ones actually work and fit correctly.

my cousin bought the older fmic kit from punishment a couple years ago and we had a TON of fitment issues! once we got it all rigged in the fmic has been working great but we had to do some serious cutting to make it work. That being said i know more than one other person who has recently bought the kit and i guess PR has made a ton of changes to the routing of the pipes for this kit for better fitment. oh, and its 100 dollars cheaper than before:p

I heard the same type of stuff about the older kits as well as stated above LOL. But yeah I guess the kit is actually really good and easy to install now. I am really looking forward to picking this kit up for my 1g :). Also, Steve91 did you have to relocate your coolant tank or will it fit with it still in the origional stock position?

let me say that a good idea would be to ask for there install guide first that they usually send with the order of a fmic kit before you decide to order one, read over it and then decide if its something you want, the kit does take time, patience and minor idea crafting. we must remember though that the original 1G car that was used as a mach up for this kit could of possiblly been a little different, not every exact car will be the same, the engine could be a little lower, it could be shifted a little more to the left or right. yes they did have problems when the kit was first put together with the bov hitting the hood, some pipes being different lengths, even having shipment issues... but 9 out of 10 times there great customer service will work with you to fix the problem. They have made there changes to the kit to fix such problems that customers were having, again good customer service and buisness ethic to improve there kit. i stand behind the fact that there kit is bang for the buck and an overall top notch kit.

Now to answer questions-
Alice Cooper: i did buy the thickest core i could get with the kit, and after going on a fairly lenghty drive i had no cooling issues what so ever, everything was operating normally. and as far as the coolant tank theres a few ways you can do this, i have seen people extend the wires for the coolant sensor and mount it where the old SMIC used to be looks very clean, but i was able to set it back in place where it was originally and like where it is.

AlaskanDSM: I think you are refering to the foglights, not the headlights. And if you are referring to the foglights yes you can keep them, i was only able to get two bolts back into the foglight brackets instead of three but they held firmly in place. and yes it is the cxracing kit.

TO ANYONE WHO HAS QUESTIONS PLEASE ASK AND I WILL ANSWER, I WILL ALSO TAKE PICTURES FOR ANYONE THAT ASKS AS WELL, I AM OPEN TO HELPING ANYONE SO JUST ASK

Thanks for the information :thumb:. I found another thread online somewhere that showed where to make cuts and stuff so the pipes will fit. I'm glad I can keep my fogs as well as able to keep my coolant tank in the same place. I am hoping to pick this kit up very soon. How long did it take to ship to your door?

it took 3 days, i think they are still doing free shipping on anything over 99$, it was fed ex'd to my front door which was awesome and they also provide you with a shipping and tracking number so you can keep an eye on your package the whole time. and just a heads up i personally was able to keep my coolant tank where it was, i cant say the same for your car it might work it might not but good luck:hellyeah:

Haha, I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote that! :aha: Failure of a brain making connections... But anyways, I fixed that haha.

Ok so a few more questions. I was reading the installation guide and it said to remove the powersteering cooler and drain the fluid, loop lines on powersteering reservoir and bending some A/C lines. Did you have to do all of this on your installation aswell? From the looks of it the only thing that really has to be moved is the coolant reservoir but thats probably only a temporary move.

hah its all good man i got what you meant.

and yes i did have to do those steps, those lines run through the d holes that you have to enlarge to fit the piping through so you dont want to damge them, i didnt have to drain my power steering fluid bud i did loose a good amount removing the lines, and i did have to bend the ac lines, wasnt to bad tho, wednesday i wil take the front bumper off and take some better pictures of everything
