Need help from a local dsmer in Tacoma, WA area to help fix my car. Compensation can be discussed over PM.

Car: 99gsx/50kmiles/hard intake/hard lower ic piping/t25/1gbov/

Problem: Studders or knocks down from 5K rpm, blows black smoke

Swapped checked: Ecu/Maf/Coil/Transistor pack/Spark plug wires/Turbo

Checked: Compression/leak down head test/timing

Right now the timing belt cover is take off and alternator/power steering/ac is disconnected. This is not going to be an easy problem to find. My brother is very good at repairing and diagnosing cars, he has a degree and worked at a dealership for a few years before he switched careers. He came by a couple of times and has not figured this one out. I need someone who knows whats going on and could help me out, and as I said compensation can be discussed over pm.

Yesterday when I shut the car off, there was a clicking noise coming from around the intake manifold area. I unhooked the battery, and the clicking noise (click 1 2 click 1, 2 click) kept on going for about 40sec more.

If someone is interested, let me know, Thanks, Nick.

You checked your intake manifold gasket? Have you done a boost leak check?

A bad intake manifold gasket can cause a loud ticking, a lot like a bad injector and can cause some extremely bad stuttering and crappy drivability. A really bad bad boost leak can also cause similar issues.

The only part I'm confused about is the ticking after the car is off...

I did not check the manifold asket, but I doubt thats it, I never took it off for it to start leaking. How would you check it when its buried back there? Yes, I have done boost leak, no leaks.

That was not the injectors clicking, I believe. I attached the video, I unhooked the battery and it still clicked!!!! for about 30 sec. with thew battery hooked off! The clicking was loud, with the hood open you could probably hear it 15+ft away. It sounded like it was coming from the coil area.

One question, would the car behave differently if I disconnected the knock sensor? I know my 1g worked without on eand you couldnt tell a diff.

The car only studders when you have the turbo hooked up. It revs fine with turbo open. I am gonna go and do another boost leak test. Check out the vids. Thanks
