Hey, everyone. My wife and I are trying to move to the Orlando area. I was wondering if you all could chime in and give me some advice on nice areas, schools and what your taxes are like.

We've had it with Illinois. So what's it like down there??!

I currently reside in South Florida. But I lived in Orlando for almost 3 years. Orlando is the mecca of car modification. The car scene is huge. I swear every car is modified. You'll love it! On top of it all there's tons to do. Only downside is the only near by beaches are whack and an hour+ away. But I'm seriously considering moving back up there.

That's good! What's it like overall to live there?

Being born and raised in South Florida, I'm use to the hustle down here. Orlando is a little more chill. Tampa is about an hour and a half away from Orlando (depending how you drive)... Tampa has a big Street race scene and overall a kool place to visit. Daytona is about 2 hours away, park on the beach (5 bucks), Awesome organized race events i.e. Daytona 500, Le mans, Rolex 24.

South Florida is night life headquarters. About 3 hours away.

Orlando weather ranges 78-100(not too often) in the summer, 35-65 in the winter. Once rainy season kicks in, it'll rain everyday at 3PM. LoL.

then twice a year they have "Love bug" season... it's these little bugs that stay stuck to there mate 24/7, they're everywhere! a quick ride down the Highway and your car is filled. Not too bad if you stay up with your wax.

any other questions?

Oh yeah and Florida doesn't have a state tax and no emissions :)

By far my favorite area of Orlando is "Altamonte Springs" if you like a little more away from the city "Oviedo"

I'm liking this. If I stay off the highway, can I stay free from the "Lovebugs"? Lol! And you guys can conceal carry, too. I'm a big advocate of that, plus the low taxes and no emissions? Damn. I heard the school systems are good, too. How's the gas prices there right now? We really want to move, bad. Thanks for the help. :)

Lovebugs will cover your car regardless what roads you take, LOL. All we pay is federal tax and I run a test pipe year round. Schools are good depending the area, generally Altamonte Springs and Oviedo have good schools. I can't comment on gas prices since I'm not currently living up there. Right in South Florida we're at just over 4 bucks for 93.

Man, that sounds great. As for gas, we're anywhere from $4.21-4.45 for 87. :( Well, thank you for the advice. Feel free to add anything!

And e85 is easy to find in S fl. Lol im sure orlando is the same. $4.45 for 87 Ouch!! What are you guys paying for 93?

It's about $4.80. I don't go to the ripoff places that charge that. I live by a truck-stop with 3 stations, so they all compete. I payed 4.28 today. Lucky me, huh? Chicago is a joke.

no worries man. Feel free to hit me up on Facebook if you have anymore questions... https://www.facebook.com/eerodriguez

Thank you!
