I could really use some help trying to get this car to run

the first thing you need to do is verify the timing belt is installed correctly. get the t mark on the crank pulley aligned and check the intake and exhaust cam gears. if they the dots arent in the center crank the motor another 180 degrees. you already know wht comes next, a leakdown test. another option is to just hook an air hose to an adapter in place of the spark plug (compression testers usually work here) and see where the air is leaking. if the intake is hissing, you have a bent intake valve, exhaust hissing the same, lastly if your rings are done, pull the oil fill cap, you will hear the air coming there. you will need to close the valves on each cylinder being tested, but you need to do that on a leakdown test as well.

well i went out sat and worked a little on it timing marks looked dead on pulled the valve cover and everything was tight. I was told rockers would be loose if there is bent valves. i pulled the injectors and they looked ok and seemed to be firing with the motor. i even tryed spraying starting fluid in the cylinders directly and it didnt even fire. i think it might be time for me to source a known good running long block and go from there so i can get this thing on the road driving
