The ring that goes on the shaft the oil seal one was not on it it came off by it self PACHURADO

Broke

The shaft has the bering
but no oil ring seal at the end

The shaft broke I was told it was my fault, the other Bering looks clean

For me it looks like the problem something went bad on the assembly right the last pick looks that the ring fail

What do you think it was fed from the ofh:barf:

I wound get ahold of turbo lab if you haven't and see what they say, which I'm guessing it's one of there custom turbos.
 
Yea starbing from oil cause I had the restrictor he made for me I just want to hear from somebody yes it was your mistake that the turbo fail from not getting oil so that he can rebuilt it again or not if is the assembly cause is weird how it broke the shaft, if that's the case well look for another turbo guy to build me a new one :mad:
 
Yea, gotta agree with killa DSM, ask Justin. If it helps though I bought my Evo 3 16G from pj91gsx and haven't had any issues yet. But I long while ago I bought a turbine wheel from him and when nico rebuilt it, it didn't last long (not bashing nico he's legit) when I took it apart the clip on the end of the turbine wheel welded itself on the shaft. Don't know what that was about.
 
Over-restricted or the oil feed was otherwise blocked; no sign of oil contamination whatsoever. This type of shaft breakage happens when the shaft seizes but kinetic energy wants to keep the wheels in motion.

Basically whoever built your turbo and/or restrictor based on the oiling information you gave them had no idea what they were doing in regards to getting enough oil to the turbo and should absorb the cost of the repair 100% if the restrictor is indeed too small. I've been in such a situation before and had no problem making right on the deal.

I would take Justin's advice strongly over mine. He see's this kind of stuff on a regular basis.

According to them you were the one who put the restrictor on it and they actually recommend not running them.

I guess I ask to see who's at fault. If its their restrictor then its theirs, if its your restrictor then according to Justin it would be yours.

Either way its a bummer to happen. losing a turbo in that fashion is always heart breaking.

He made me the restrictor, but is that I would put it or not would be my set up.
I just follow what dsm post where if you have bsl remove then use one from ofh if being feed from there.

Yes it sucks i did spend a lot of money in my built + tunning+ that expensive hybrid turbo:toobad:
 
MHI turbos want no more than 48psi entering the cartridge, but you should only restrict enough to get the peak operating pressure to that level. Over-restricting causes things like the damage shown above to happen. Building a restrictor based on invalid oiling information causes the damage shown above to happen. Basing your turbo's oiling needs off of someone else's setup causes the damage shown above to happen.

I normally suggest a restrictor of around .070-.075" as a blanket size for a MHI turbo fed from the filter housing simply because this is not only the same spec used on a 2G's T25 from the factory but also the spec chosen by FP for their Evo-specific oil line kit: Forced Performance's Newest Turbo Oil Feed Line - evolutionm.net
 
Daniel, do you have a paper receipt you can snap a pic of from turbo lab?

I would imagine they would have put an itemized invoice in with the turbo. Maybe it would list a restrictor on there?
