hey all, i wanted to know if theres a way i can run a bigger turbo, injectors, more boost etc. without dsmlink? i tried the search button and couldnt find anything. im new to this kind of thing so ### dont reply if your going to be rude. this is my street car not a racecar. just want to run a bigger turbo with a bit more boost.

i got a ecu plus piggy back unit if you like to buy. data loggs, dyno plot, injector compensation, timing compensation and more.

Just save up for ECMLink V3 Full. In the end you will be much happier.

evo 3, injectors about 550, exhaust, intake, intercooler is very do able mid 13's. I've personally seen members on here at the track doing those times with those mods. But it's all in the tune. They are also using safc II.

i still have the tactrix 2.0 cable for sale. make offers $$$$ got the 1.3u cable too plus evoscan datalogger/standalone. make offers $$$$$$$$$$

As others have said, search "Ceddymods" to find out more about what that is. You have a 98 so you should just need a taxtrix cable-200, evoscan program-25, and ecuflash program-free. There is a sub-forum on here for ECUFlash users. I have this setup in my 95 eclipse with a 98-99 ECU and I also use it in my 99. There's not as much help or support but once you get the hang of it it's not too hard to use. The Ceddymods have everything from disabling things that throw Check Engine Lights, to anti-lag, to launch control, adjust RPM limits, fuel maps, ignition maps, changing your idle RPM, temp when the cooling fans come on... you can adjust pretty much everything and it's all in the factory ECU.

ECMLink does have a great support forum and it is a user friendly program. I have a V2 DSMLink setup and it's really easy to use but it's more expensive as I'm sure you already know. It doesn't have as many things to play around with as the Ceddymods but V3 I know has much more available.

There is the SAFC route which is much simpler but it's features are very limited. All you can do pretty much is compensate for bigger injectors. And you'd still need a datalogger.

There's the AEM engine management system which is spendy. Don't know too much about it. I should probably learn more about it because I have it for one of my cars. I hear it's not as user friendly as DSMLink but has lots of stuff in it.

There's Megasquirt.

People have also put an EVO8 ECU into their cars. It's functions are similar to Ceddymods in how things work but the EVO ECU has more stuff in it and the support is much better. Just sign up for "EVOM", the EVO forum.

If u dont plan to use bigger than like 660 injectors u can go with safc. If u can find a cheap used one id say its worth it but for a bit more u can get the tactrix cable. Its like magic, I went e85 so I had to get bigger injectors

Sorry I notice u wanted to know how to tune with safc. There is a great writup in the tuning writups section that I used. I pretty can only do base tuning. How u do that is some math. Find out how much bigger ## new injectors are compared to stockers. So thats like ((x/450) - 1)* 100

This gives ## percent larger than stock injectors. Then go to ## low setting table and move all of the columns -x%. That should get u close enough to idle and cruise. I forget if u do the same for hi also sorry been a while. Then u could check ## fuel trims with a datalogger but I wont go into that. Thats the basics of getting ## car running with larger injectors. Ull probably want a logger and wideband also. U could shell out some $$$ and have a shop tune ## car also, since u have a 98 ecu a shop that has a tactrix cable cam tune it up for u on a dyno but thats some $$$ but itll be done right. I suggest u get a wbo2 if u go that route. Probably a shop that tunes evos or even subbies can do that for u.

Sorry ## not closer to me I could do a base tune for you. But of u want to change anything in the future ull need to find someone that has he cable and all the software setup. Ecuflash is a big pain in the ass to setup in a computer

There is one more option that is decent. I don't know if it's better full v3, but I have seen it on a DSM, and I have it on my 3000gt.
It's the AEM FIC 8. It's a piggy back unit so you can return OBD codes. (For a 96-99 car) and still pass smog. You can data log, retart timing, injectors up to 880's or so. Easy to tune. But not the cheapest, and not as much ability to make intimate power like the Link. So weigh your options.
