Ok' so I have a 1990 1g laser turbo with 222000 and its still running good . I took the ecu out to see if it's leaking from the capacitors or smells funny. Yes it' smells a little but I can't see any leakage. I gess with that many miles it should have some but it's still going strong, and if it was going out it would have done it by now. It's not an eprom should I fix or see how long it will go. I want to fix the capacitors but don't want to lose my ecu doing it.

Maybe post up some hi-res pictures so we can take a look?

Do you mean you can't afford any downtime, which is why you don't want to have the caps replaced? I wouldn't say "If it hasn't done it by now, it won't" because anything can happen. I would probably get stuff replaced if it's still factory parts just so I don't take the chance in really ruining it if something would happen.

Down time is not a big deal but it's the only one I have, and the CA turbo ecu are hard to get here and not cheap. I was giong to a have full function do it for $50.00 but they told no warranty on the job so it's a 50/50 and that got me thinking. I did not check the back side I will and try to post pic too...
