Hey guys,

I'm in a bit of a situation here with my car, just the other day I noticed an odd noise when my car was idling (when I would step out of my car with the TT on). Today I decided to take a look at the problem, so I removed the cam gear cover (I noticed the noise was coming from that area) and saw that the timing belt was frayed up a bit.

Curious, I took a closer look and noticed an odd cylindrical shaped piece of metal between the cover and the block that appeared to be obstructing the belt somewhat. I then gave Paul from Newlogics a call and he said that it might be a dowel for the cover that came loose.

I need to get this thing out of there since this is my DD, but I don't have the resources in San Jose to work on my car here. So if anyone in the area has timing belt replacement experience I would greatly appreciate helping me out somehow. I need this fixed ASAP!

I have plenty of experience doing timing belt jobs on DSM's Is your car in the N. bay or S. bay? How quick can you get the parts for a timing belt replacement?

Oh wow, I had no idea there were responses (I didn't receive any notifications). Anywho, I really appreciate everyone reaching out, but I had the work done by Prostreet Motorsports. Cost me quite a bit  but I had no choice really.

I need to purchase a lower timing belt cover now and I'm looking on extremepsi.com, but I'm not sure which one I should get.

This

or

This (I'm thinking this one)

I have a 95 TSi w/ a 6bolt longblock so I'm guessing the latter, but I want to be sure before I drop $100.
