Hey Dsmr's , Me and my buddy will be visiting near Richmond Around december 15th and we'll be there for 3 days. We just decided to take a vacation and we were wondering if any of you guys would like to show us some canyons and stuff out there? We are taking a 97 gsx and an EVO 9 and we have experience with auto cross and stuff so you don't need to worry about us testing our limits and going off the cliffs and stuffROFL. Let me know.

I live near richmond and I'm sure a few others do. Maybe we can set up another union city meet while your out here.

Nice, I'd definitely attend. I'm also looking for some canyons, snow, anything that is different from sunny socal?

Lol no snow up here but we have some stuff that should entertain ya.:thumb:

Gotta go further north (Sac-Placer etc) to find the good roads.

Richmond? Ooo, what a garden spot. Park indoors.

From there, your best drive is probably across the bridge and out Sir Francis Drake to Inverness, and up and down Highway 1. There's some stuff on the east side of Berkeley, up through Tilden Park, but they patrol the living hell out of it. Be especially careful of them out San Pablo Dam Road. You're about a hundred miles from much in the way of canyons. However, do take a burn out to the west side of the Golden Gate Bridge, on the north, to Wallace Battery. Best view of the city anywhere. And in SF, hit The Palace of the Legion of Honor in Lincoln Park. And, they just finished re-doing the Steinhart Aquarium, if you can ignore the politics. The DeYoung has been re-done, too.

And try not to put "the" in front of freeway numbers while you're up here.

Try Highway 9 for a good drive. Also Mt. Hamilton is a good stretch.

I work at CAS LOL (California Academy of Sciences)

I was there I guess the week it had re-opened, and it's gorgeous. But I'm about fed up with being told how we're screwing up the planet, and listening to the onslaught of propaganda. Just the cost of doing business, I suppose. Goebbels must be doing the Happy Dance.
The Planetarium ought to be pretty slick once they get the display bugs out- at this point, it's like a Real Audio flashback from '95. Getting rid of Sigourney Weaver's whining will help, too.

I hear ya LOL, We are the greenest building in the world though...ahaha

redwood and calavaras-(ultimate technical canyon road i've been to in the bay)

i take redwood all the time :) thats the road i always take when i need to get out of the house and thats the road i tune my car for :)

sounds good to me bro :) im down im not sure if he would wanna drive that far thoe?

Crap, I've been busy and haven't checked the forums lately. Yeah, I'll check as much of that stuff out as possible. The reason for staying in Richmond is because I will be visiting UC Berkeley. I just got accepted there for their engineering program and I want to check the school out before I decide if I want to go there or not. My friend's dad is a manager for the Marriot hotels and he is hooking me up with a great deal on a room. Then, my friend wanted to go with me so I turned this into a 1 day visiting berkeley, 3 day having fun type of vacation. I'll PM those of you who have shown an interest to go cruising and what not in a week or so and I'll let you guys no for sure when we'll be there. I know it really isn't a big deal having me go there and stuff, but I thank you guys for willing to help out and stuff. Thanks:thumb:

Thanks, I'll definately check out that stuff. I'll see what I can fit into my schedule. I know for sure I'll be checking out the golden gate bridge, and the steinhart aquarium. My girlfriend loves fish and marine life.

Union City won't be that far if hes staying in the Richmond area. Lets set up a meet then sometime around that time.

Sounds like a good plan. What marriot you staying in? UC Berkeley is a pretty good school. I have a few friends that go there and it's a pretty interesting area in all anyways.

ok....ill work out the details tom. and get some peoples input to see if he will get enough people to make the union city meet happen :)

I work at UC Berkeley and ride a motorcycle so I know all the best roads in the north bay. Skaggs Springs road is probably the best in NorCal. Just you tube "Skaggs Springs Road" to see it. If you want to go for some fun drives hit me up.

If you want to go to the Aquarium, let me know, I'll try to get you guys in for free. let me know what day, and if I am working I'll work it out with someone at the door, or if I am off, Ill meet you up and walk you in.

hey 50trimmed1g what date would be best for you for the union city meet?

Congratulations... I went to Berkeley for engineering and loved it.

If you're not going to MIT, Berkeley is better than just a second-best.

Ha definitely not going to MIT:coy: It's just weird moving so far from family but I'm willing to get used to it:)

Cool, That seems like a nice road based on the youtube videos I just watched. I'll add you to my buddy list and contact you when I'm up north.

Dang man, I wouldn't want you to get in trouble in anyway. But if you can play it off how could I resist?ROFL I'm still debating the day we are going up there but we're going for sure. It feels weird right now because I've been saving money up for this trip rather than spending it all on my dsm's. Hopefully it doesn't get mad at me up there and leave me stranded hundreds of miles away from home:beatentodeath:

Since when have I been so important:tease: You guys are all very welcoming and to take me into consideration when planning your meets is just way above and beyond what I've ever seen before from the socal dsm guys. I'll be glad to go to all of your meets when I'm up there for school. Back to the topic, I'm still debating what days we will be going with my evo friend. It will most likely be in a week or two, but I'll keep you guys updated for sure.
Oh, subscribing to my own thread:cool:

Nice, what branch of engineering. I'm going for their electrical engineering/comp science program. I'll probably want to hang myself halfway into it.:|
