Hi NorCal dsmers I have a 90 TSI awd. Mods are 560cc injectors, rewired fuel pump, hacked MAS, 2.5" catback, and recently install a Perrin mbc. I follow the instruction on here. Bottom red needle go to a nipple of a pipe connect to turbo, top white needle connect to waste gate. My car boost liek 9 PSi no matter how tight i turn in; also it seem to stutter after 4500 rpm after boost hit 9 PSI. Do I have boost leak? Before MBC install it was fine and boost good. Help.....Did search and come up no problem like mine.

Check all simple stuff. If all you did was uninstall the stock bcs and then install the mbc to cause this problem than it has to be something simple. First, check to make sure your mas is plugged in, stock BCS is unplugged /completely removed and there are no open vaccum lines anywhere, check your BOV line and all lines to your wastegate.

If everything is good and you can rev the car past 4500rpm and still boost 9psi no matter what, then reverse the mbc and see if you can boost, or if you overboost. **watch your boost gauge very closely if you are doing this, your boost could climb very rapidly like this!**

I did check all that. And now my car suddenly idle at 2k rpm and overheating. Ahhhh it was so good till now...

I'm a 2g, and I have the same problem.

I took the vacuum lines of the original bcs but didn't d/c the bcs from the wires or w/e. Should I do that?

If that doesn't work I'll do the reverse thing.

it sounds like you just hooked it up wrong or its a boost leak or perhaps your using the stock boost gauge. I'd need to see it in person before I could tell you for sure what needs to be done to fix it, vac lines are just too complicated to go through one by one over the internet. Check them all and make sure you have them going to the right place,...

yeah, if you arent using an aftermarket boost gauge you could have fubared your engine....

Check everything you touched... make sure you didnt unplug your coolant overflow bottle sensor, i think thats on the same harness. Make sure the old bcs is completely removed and you installed the lines correctly. Just look over everything in that general area that you could have touched.

You do have an aftermarket boost gauge right?

I do have after market boost gauge, and nwo lst nite try to drive the car home. High idle again, adjust the screw on top of the throttle, then idle go back under 1k, drove for like 2 min, suddenly car shut off, all lights still on. I have to restart engine again and have to keep on the throttle if not engien will die again. Can radiator or waterpump failure caused that? ### i saw steam coming from radiator and my car Temp shot up.

what exactly did you touch when you first installed it? Go over every step and check everything near it. Give it a good visual inspection then start going through the systems that are messing up. Check all you coolant system, and check your intake, bov, mas, ic piping, vaccum hoses.

What are you using to tune those 560cc injectors? I just noticed you mentioned them, but nothing to tune them with. You also emailed me to purchase my safc, so this leads me to believe your car is running rich constantly. Your o2 sensor is probably shot by now.

Any one know a good place to buy used engien in the Bay Area? Oil spill inside my engine adn Brian think my head gasket blew.

Test your coolant for hydrocarbons and do a compression test. Look for chocolate milk. Be sure.

Iam pretty sure the head gasket gone. Beside Full Function, any shop in the bay area do repair DSM for cheap. 7500 is not very affordable right now.

I didn't see any coolant, it was just oil, so it might have not been your headgasket, although where the oil was, it seemed impossible for it to be anything other than your headgasket. Take it to full function, they will be expensive, but they will give it a once over and get it running better than you ever imagined. Theres a reason everyone suggests them. And I HIGHLY doubt they quoted you at 7500 for a headgasket. They might have quoted you at 7500 for a full rebuid and installation, which seems reasonable if your getting a light build. Take it to them and have them diagnose it, trust me.

Where has Paul (Newlogics) gone?

Sing it to "Where have all the flowers gone" tune.

hahaa mahesh!

He was going to work for fftec, but his other job was a little better and he's overhaulin his house so he only has time for 2 of the 3. Ive been tryin to call him because my old trans is still sittin in his shop! (hopefully...)

OP, You'd be in luck if paul was still workin on DSM's. He woulda had that gasket changed in a day for like $300, 2 packs of parliment lights, a sobe green tea, and some quizno's. :thumb:

Mahesh, hows that tune coming on your car? I havent seen you post on your dsmlink forum in a while...

Have you guys heard of Overbore.com? They quote me a $1450 for rebuilt engine with blance and deck and BS removed. Good deal?

that won't include labor for taking your motor out, shipping it to them, an putting the new one in. Plus, Im pretty sure they use topline gaskets, which are shit.

Let me ask you, how did you go from installing a boost controller to needing a new engine? Have you got a professional diagnosis of your problem?
Brian, you looked at his car? Why does he need a new engine?

Unless you really need a new engine you shouldnt put a new one in. If you are going to do it, build it once and do it right, put in forged internals and do everything you can the first time, you will thank yourself later.

Heh, I haven't really driven it since then. I want to get the intake temps down before anything - that "tune" was a bit embarrassing :) Getting a better intake pipe from Brian today. This year will be the year, man.

The best EVER was when Paul and I put in an LSD insert in my black car one weekend, and he didn't charge me because he didn't feel comfortable charging for something he hadn't done on anyone else's car before. Gave him and Alex and them a 24-pack of Corona.

Pole= :rocks:

And to the OP, listen to me and these guys. We've been doing this for a while.

Man, if Paul hadnt charged me for the stuff he'd never installed before i would have had half the stuff installed on my car for free!... or i'd be buying a bunch of corona/vodka and parliment lights! haha

Im probably going to cheat on my tune this year and bring the car to fftec. Or 1/2 cheat and have dave "help" me tune again (me drive and dave tune) haha, i would suggest the latter of the two since you are in the same neck of the woods. He tuned my 15psi to a 12.9 last year!

Who is Paul? Can he help fix my car? I pay...or any one help with diagnostic the car...

ok, so I took the safc to his car, installed it, took out 18% (for the 560cc injectors) and reset the ecu by disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery for about 30 seconds. After that it began to idle like a dsm normally does, and so we took it for a test drive. Without any datalogger, its hard to tell if it was rich or lean at all, but it seemed fine. We hopped on the freeway and were cruising at 55-65 mph and the coolant temps just started climbing. It seemed as if the thermostat housing just wasn't opening, although the needle didn't get higher than anything I've seen on my car. (its at this time I'd like to point out I've had my car up to 270 degrees before, because the radiator I had was soaked with dirt from the accident, so it basically wasn't working, and I got a radiator from danny.) I'd say it got hot, but probably nothing more than 230. We pulled off, and coming to the first stop sign, the car stalled. from then on, every chance it got it stalled. We drove about two blocks off the freeway, rolled to a parking spot, popped the hood, and saw oil COVERING the tranny. It looked as if it had been squirted from the radiators temp sensor. My first instincts, dip stick, valve cover vent filter (the car has one of those tiny air filters on the valve cover's passenger side, but it sits on the thermostat housing and no oil was found above the plane where the head meets the block). There was a tiny bit of steam when we first popped the hood, but no signs of coolant otherwise. I don't know what it could have been, its not for sure a blown head gasket, but thats what it looked to be. I feel like an idiot for not checking the coolant overflow, but I would also like to mention the OP mentioned to me he did overboost the car when trying to get the mbc to work.
