I know there are enough dsmers in the South Bay to be able to get a local regular meet going. I was kind of hinting at this on the "Sightings" thread, but it got deleted, probably due to the server upgrade.

All I want to know is who would be available to regularly meet? I know we are notorious for our once-a-year-Bay Area meets, so I think we should start small and try to organize a more local meet (like the San Jose to Union City area) so it won't be such a let down to others who are willing to come out when no one does.

Not that I think we should exclude everybody else, but I don't think it's worth it for someone from 'Frisco to drive all the way down to San Jo when nobody shows up. I think if we start local, it won't be that big of a deal if no one can make it.

Who in the South Bay can make it to a regular meet? And by regular meet, I don't mean a set date and time for every meet, but maybe a regular meet (like once a week/month) with little planning. Like for example, "Hey guys, let's have a meet up here at XXX at around XXX am/pm next week..."

It shouldn't possibly be this hard to get a local meet started. I know everybody has there own thing to do and stuff, but just in general, if you were free to go to a meet, would you actually go?

I want to get a feel for how many guys are interested in meeting up. I've tried doing this before and I already know it's a hit or miss situation.

I've tried going to meets (not dsmers) that are already happening/meeting regularly, and for me it's kind of weird since I don't know anybody. It would be neat to have a regular dsm meet.

So who in the South Bay thinks they can meet on a semi-regular basis? I'm usually free on Sunday afternoons.

Of course this is just my opinion, if anybody has any other suggestions, just post.

There are plenty of meets in the south bay if you're interested. On Sunday nights there's a pretty big gathering at a Starbucks on El Camino near Lawrence Expwy in Sunnyvale. People usually start showing up around 9pm, and the lot starts getting packed after 10pm. I don't know the address, but it's the only one right on El camino after Lawrence. The starbucks has a drive thru, there's a denny next to it, an Albertsons (luckys) in the shopping center, and a taco bell directly across the street. It started as a VW meet, but now pretty much everyone shows up. I'm out there once in a while, although lately there seem to be more and more idiots showing up. :p It's entertaining though!

Every Wednesday there's an EVO meet on Capitol Expwy at the McDonalds on the Auto Mall strip. People are out there around 8:30pm. Mainly guys from evofirm.net out there; John from Full Function (black evo IX, recently quit though), he's out there along with myself. Also another guy with a GVR4 out there...

Every Saturday there's another group of guys from performancesport.net that meet at Starbucks (over near Camilles) in the shopping center on Blossom Hill and Santa Teresa. I'm usually out there with them every other weekend. It started off as a bunch of SRT-4 guys, but not many have SRT-4's anymore. We've got a Z06, Mustangs, VW's, a DSM, SRT-4's, etc, all just hangin out having a good time. That group also get's together for drive's and has a member that organizes track days at altamont every once in a while.

I've said this before, you guys are welcome to show up to any of these meets. Start coming out and there's a good chance you'll run into me sooner or later. Can't miss the green 2G (usually the only DSM), with the plates "IH8DSMS." :)

It's not going to be a DSM specific meet and you'll probably have to talk to people that own other types of vehicles. ha!

Oh, and on Saturdays mornings, there's an exotic meet at Santana Row in the parking lot in the back. I've shown up there a couple times. People are pretty nice, most are older and out there with there kids even. I found out about that one when my friend used to own a viper. Lots of nice stuff over there. :)

...and I've heard about some meet somewhere over in Milpitas on Friday evenings I think. But who wants to go to milpitas with their modified car? :p

I'd think the best bet for getting a regular DSM meet together would be to get people to start showing up to one of these pre-existing meets. That way you know there will be something going on, even if all other dsm'ers flake (pretty good possibility).

Ive always thought that a local meet would be something cool if we could get started.

Im currently in school in SoCal but was up there in Cupertino all summer and would have been down to have a meet. Anytime I'm back in town and theres a local DSM meet, im THERE:thumb:

im in San Bruno 650: friday and saturday, we have "meets" in the starbucks parking lot in daly city, or we go to Union city food max.............

yeah...dnr is old school. i remember hanging out with them back in 02-03 when i still had my honda.
