quick question, i have some how acquired two 14lb nitrous bottles. my eclipse is a mix of lots of show, and lots of go. To make a long story short i am using an intercooler bar for show purposes and it also has a dual purge valve on it for more show purposes. The setup up was all originally hooked up to one bottle. Could i place the second bottle next to the first and use some sorf of open y valve to connect both bottles at the same time and either use both together or use one till it runs out then just open the valve on the second one? Or would it just be best to separate the intercoolr bar and the purge valves to run off of their own bottle? I just like the look of two bottles in the car......... and yes i know it would be better to just spray it wet into the motor for the best performance.

When I asked NX a similar question a few years ago, they said that each system needs its own bottle (probably their way of selling another bottle with a kit). You can have a Y connector, but if both systems are armed there is going to be nitrous in the lines for one system when you turn on the other one. What I'm saying is that if you want to use the intercooler spray and not put nitrous in the engine, while you are spraying the intercooler spray there is going to be nitrous in the line going to the engine (so you might end up wasting a little more nitrous in the process, because you'll always have some in both the lines).

Let me get this straight... you have one system, not two, and you run nitrous out the intercooler sprayer and also just blow it off in the air by having the same feed line suppling the sprayer and 2 (or is it 1?) purge valves? So, everytime you hit it, you waste 2/3 of it out the purge valves? -Or do you have separate switches for purging and spraying off this line?

Since no nitrous is actually going in the engine, I think you'd be able to just run a "Y" to the system from the bottles. There wouldn't be any switching mechanism needed that way, and you'd have twice as much volume to waste.

ok i have one bottle in the back seat with the line runing thru the engine bay to the supershot selinoid, from there a line runs to the srayer bar. that was the first set up with no purge. then a decided to use a purge valve, so right before the supershot selinoid i put a T connect on so the sraight part of the T connector connected to the seliniod, so the off shoot connected to the purge. So the purge and the seliniod could operate off the same line and bottle but be activated at different or same times with their own switches. all i wanna do now is incorporate another bottle. as stated earlier

I would do the Y connection for now, it's the simplest. But if you ever want to actually put the nitrous into the engine, as a chemical power adder and not a charge cooler, you would not want to have the bottles connected to the same feedline in any way(like Dee said). It could cause many problems and even cost you an engine.

DGajre777, I read post 1 and post 18 from your link, and I have a question...

- It is nearly impossible to use an intercooler spray bar without ingesting residual gases from the intercooler spray.
- Nitrous oxide, when sprayed across an intercooler, can cause motor damage.

How would it even enter? I dont understand. Let me see if I got this right, the spray bar sprays in front of the intercooler... and in turns cools the air inside the tubes/bars of the IC. How would it get in, other then of you had a leak???? I am not understanding how it would enter the system since it is sprayed outside the intercooler. When it rains is water entering my charge pipes through my intercooler, no.

It expands out into the surrounding air and is sucked into the intake filter. While it may be a lot lower concentration than a direct injection system, you'd be surprised how much actually makes it into the engine.

Zack is right. Also, the correct way to use an intercooler spray bar is during idle. Some more info here...

"We now know that it is almost impossible to use an intercooler spray bar without some residual gases being drawn into the intake. We also know that CO2 displaces oxygen. Therefore, we can determine that even a very small amount of CO2 entering the air intake will decrease power output. This one of the theories used in producing Cryofuzion's system of Cheetah Jets.

Some racers who are unknowingly using these intercooler spray bars with CO2 have also installed hobbs switches. This means they are using a boost activated switch to turn the CO2 spray off and on. (When the boost pressure rises, the CO2 spray comes on.) This is perhaps the worst idea for a spray bar I had encountered. The power robbing effects of the CO2 will be maximized at full throttle conditions, which is when the switches are activating the spray bars. If CO2 is to be used on an intercooler, it should at least be done while at an idle when peak power isn't a concern.

We concluded that nitrous oxide, when sprayed onto the intercooler can net some impressive results. However, a larger portion of the gain seen while employing this method comes from the residual N2O being drawn into the intake and subsequently used within the combustion chamber. N2O's oxidizing capabilities assist in combustion, creating horsepower. This is a double edged sword. The problem with using nitrous oxide in this manner is that it is unmetered. In other words, there can be no way to correct the air/fuel ratio or ignition timing of the car when the nitrous oxide is added. This will almost certainly lead to eventual motor damage.

Both nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide when sprayed onto the intercooler can be effective if used during non-crucial times. They could be used effectively any time engine power output is not important. For example, while staging during a drag race to prevent heat soak. Or, pre-launch. However, using either one during a full power run, or during spirited driving of any kind can lead to disaster. Or, at least the loss of a race ... but isn't that almost as devastating?
"

And some dyno sheets... hopefully they will convince you to not use your system at WOT.
