Could somebody explain to me in reality what purging does... i understand most of the concept just trying to get some of it clear...

Also.. basically if you turn on the nitrous bottle.. press the purge button.. and turn the bottle off besides wasting nitrous / looking "cool" haha.. it does nothing bad to the car correct??? (just seeing as i have a few shows coming up and I was going to be just getting one bottle filled to be purged out for looks points etc.).. just making sure you can safely purge it... and then just turn off the bottle without using it.. correct?? .. this is a zex kit by the way with the zex purge system etc.
thanks

The primary purpose of a Purge Valve is to release trapped air or gaseous nitous from the feed lines. By doing so it helps to ensure that you will have pure liquid nitrous the next time you use it fpr instant responce. Turning on and off the and just purging will not do any harm, as you said it will just waste that expensive nitrous gass.

could you purge without having the bottle on though?? my buddy tried to say if the bottle was off and you just pressed the purge button (he has nitrous on his 240) that the car in essence would make the "purgesound" / shoot a little air.. i find this hard to believe.. just have no first hand experience with nitrous and always deal with turbos

If you had the bottle open there is nitrous in the line. You then close it but there is still nitrous in the line that has been released from when you opened it which can be purged. If you keep the bottle closed after already purging there is nothing in the line to purge so nothing will come out when you go to purge the line again.
