just wondering if anyone is running a big 16g ported and clipped with a zex shot (50 shot). And if you have to retard the timing and if you do how many degress?

i run stock timing with my 55 shot & 19psi. if you don't have a logger, get one. otherwise you'll probably want to be safe and retard timing a bit and add some fuel.

Genaral rule the timing advances 10 degrees when you hit the nos, give or take a couple depending on the shot. so you always want to retard the timing befor hitting the nos. the car will run like #@%#@%#@%#@% until you hit it because the timing is so far off, but when you do you will love it. and make sure you have plenty of fuel.

why would nitrous cause the ecu to advance timing? how would the ecu even know when you're spraying?

like i said, i run stock (5 deg. BTDC) timing - make sure you check it though, don't just assume it's still at 5 degrees...

and, to reiterate - "make sure you have plenty of fuel" - 255 high pressure + 550's at least...

Timing Retard
A nitrous/fuel mixture increases the burn rate in the cylinder, and typically adding a few degrees of timing retard is recommended for safety. A rule of thumb is two degrees per 50hp of nitrous, but this will also reduce the power generated. When I tune my system, I monitor engine knock, and retard the timing only enough to eliminate the knock, which is usually about one degree per 50hp. At the track, under harder conditions (actually pulling the weight of the car, possibly higher outdoor temperatures, etc) I'll add a degree of retard.

This is for a N/A car.. for a turbo it is twice that ....do some research and you will find out more...

IT's ok to spray with your turbo. I spray a 75 shot with no timming retard. Our cars have knock sensons and will somtimes retard timming a little if ther's knock, specially on pump gas. And on pump gas I woiuldn't run more then a 55 shot.

if you run a 55 shot no timing adjustment, 65shot yes, 75 shot yes (you had better) also you have to get colder plugs... 55 (maybe) 65 yes 75 (you better)... 65 one step colder and 75 2 steps colder... you car wont run quite as good with this 75 shot setup... but as you are passing a 5.0 mustang it will make up for it in the end...

if you say so. I never do. Oh yeah. I still have perfect compresion after many 75 shot full bottle uses, and that's with 21psi of boost on top.

WTF? 5 degree is ALOT of timing retard w/ just 50 shot. I wouldnt want to drive a street car with 0 degree BTDC.

What are you talking about? He was saying 5 degree retard for 50 HP. Which means you set it at 0 BTDC at idle. Whatever you see on the logger IS the timing advance since the base ign timing is set to 0.
