hey all. ive got a 98 ESi, all stock. ive seen a few people say that theyve got a nonturbo and stock with nitrous..and was wondering which kit would be best for my car? oh, and whats the difference between a wet kit and a dry kit? thanx.

Any major name brand nitrous company should be fine. Nx, Zex, and Nos are the top three among imports. A wet kit injects nitrous and fuel while a dry kit just injects nitrous.

With a wet kit you know that you're going to get the extra fuel (since the kit comes with a jet for nitrous and a jet for fuel) that nitrous needs but you run the risk of not getting a good mixture. Nitrous flows through the intake better then fuel so there's a chance one of your cylinders won't get any extra fuel and another might run rich. This doesn't always happen but it is a risk to be aware of.

With a dry kit you have to make sure your fuel system is giving the extra fuel that the nitrous will need. If you know that you'll have enough fuel then a dry kit would work just fine and would save you some money/time (dry kits are easier to install).

Here is a faq that should answer most of your basic nitrous questions.

Oh yeah before you go and throw nitrous on your car you should get it checked out first. Have a compression test done and a tune up (using colder spark plugs would help with reliability) and make sure you're not running any type of chip that might advance your timing.

Even if your car seems like it's in great shape it's always a good idea to get it looked at before you run nitrous. You don't want to blow the motor on the first run because your spark is bad. I know a person that had a bad distributor blow their motor on the first 1/4 mile pass with nitrous.

Your car is naturally aspirated, so I suggest going with a dry kit. For your application, it will provide the biggest most trouble free gains. A wet kit is ideal for turbo cars that are already taxing their fuel system. The dry kit will atomize better than a single fogger wet system, therefore providing more consistent gains and no chances of fuel puddling. Start off with a 50 shot and take it from there. NOS and NX make the best kits. Good luck.

Nos is best for dry kit

Nx is best for wet kit

My personal opinion

-FPS- (fuel pressure safety switch) do yourself a favor and get one if the kit doesn't come with one. it will save your as$ under certain circumstances. More safety equiptment the better. Nitrous is never full proof though... Don't you just love it.

Go with NX, I have been running it a while now and havent had the first problem. Dont just go with ZEX because of the pretty little purple box. That is nothing other than a soleniod cover. In my experience in selling Nitrous Express and using it, its the best kit on the market.
