Whats better.... 1g head or 2g head. in a 2g car with a 6bolt engine. \
whats better and why?
1g intake or 2g intake mani?
for street use, gunna be running around 300whp.
new pistons, rings, crank/m,ain bearings, evo III 16g turbo, fmic etc...
what head??????
thanks

If your only going for 300, i would say 2g head..

Why?
Because 1g's have bigger ports and 2g's have smaller ports
(Here's a pic of a 1g gasket ona 2g head)

Air will move alot quicker through smaller ports which will help with spool up. You wll not outflow the head/mani at only 300hp..

Not to mention plenty of people are making even more power/faster time with unported 2g heads

Also stay with stock internals, there's no need to go aftermarket if you dont have to..

Unless your plannin on going for over 500whp in the future.. keep it simple

Since your in Canada, I would tell you to try to get an Evo 3 Head. It flows even better than the regular 1G and 2G Head. Getting a Evo 3 Intake and Exhaust Manifold would also compliment unless you have bought other aftermarket stuff already.

Um.. no it doesnt...

The Evo III Head is the same as a 2g head. The intake/exhaust mani are better.. but the head is the same.. They say the ports have a different design, but no one has ever shown proof that it flows better, or a back-to-back comparison

since you have a six bolt you might as well run a 6 bolt head. the 6 bolt head will flow a larger volume of air if you ever want to make more power .....and you will, boost is a highly addictive substance....trust me its never enough. also you will not have to make any modifications and can use the better flowing 1g intake manifold.

I am not going to get into a heated discussion with you but listen... not because it not documented on this site doesn't mean that it hasn't been tried elsewhere. In Jamaica we have many Evos 1-3, GVR4s and Dsms. I have personally owned and experimented on many DSMs and Evos 1-3 than most will ever try.

But you really need to post what you know backed by evidence. You havn't. It's opinion until you prove it. . . Your experience is something I'm not going to debate either. But you still havn't assigned any data to your claims.

EXACTLY

I never said anything about JUST this site.. ive never seen any dyno/flow charts/ bench flows/ etc. etc.. of any camparison with EVO III Heads

.....the 6 bolt head will flow a larger volume of air if you ever want to make more power ....

I usually don't jump into threads that are as big of messes as this one, but I have a point to add.

The 2g head does NOT choke at 600hp. It also does not just accentuate midrange at the expense of top end. My race car has a 2g head on it, and with what I wouldn't call an aggressive port job. The port at the flange is stock size, untouched 2g and last season was on stock size valves. It makes about 1100hp at the crank and peak power with the 2.3l is at about 8400rpm. Yeah it is with big cams, but the head is still working in this rpm range.

I believe the 2g head is better overall than the 1g head. The port works well and it has better bracing and structure to keep head gaskets intact.

OK. No reason to swap from a 1g head to a 2g like some are now doing. . . But yes there's no reason not to use the 2g head with your 6bolt swap. Kid has a 2g car . . . I'm beating my head waiting for the 1g/2g head debate to ensue.
