My buddy needs help!

hey everyone im tryna help my buddy out who isn't so forum savvy he has a 1997 gsx and he wants to upgrade the turbo manifold my question is on a stock turbo can you order a manifold with an external wastegate or does it have to be a special manifold cause its a stock turbo any help would be great i have a 420a so i have no clue about this stuff

PS. some links from ebay or whatever would be great to thanks.

Sure you can, if he wants a mani with external gate, he has to weld his wastegate flapper shut and use an external wastegate. The real question is, is it advisable? NO, why would he want an external setup on a small T25? Those things arent efficient past 16 lbs, unless he wants a solid 16 lbs? which is pointless since this turbo cant flow worth a damn.

thanks for the quick response no he just want a different mani cause his is bad so im looking to find one that is basically a stock fit with a aftermarket performance no welding just direct fit bolt on if you know what i mean

unless his turbo is creeping there is no point of going external, i went with external for 1 reason my 14b creeps up to 25psi.

no no no he dosent want to go external hes just looking for a different manifold no modifications just direct bolt on fit i was saying i heard about not getting a mani with external cause it wouldnt fit i just needed to know what kind to tell him to order

1st choice: FP mani
2nd: EVO 3 mani
3rd: Ported 2g mani

The ported 2g mani has made 600hp. FP is a nice piece, great for larger turbos, but for $50 you can get a used 2g or EVOIII that will take you pretty far. It will also be easy to sell when you are done with it.

Everything I've bought from Ebay had to have some sort of modifications. Should be close though

^ I agree. I bought an eBay o2 housing and half the recirc plumbing was shut because of weld excess. I had to grind it off. But all in all it should work pretty good, not sure about how long though. They tend to crack.

Do yourself a favor and only buy either a used replacement 2g/evo3 manifold, or a FP race manifold or a SBR manifold. The ebay manifolds are just straight garbage and the DNP are overpriced and underperform.

That mani is perfect, the FP mani is forced performance's manifold, its a VERY good mani and can be had for 200 BRAND NEW.
