I'm currently trying to decide what type of paint job to get for my 95 gs. I'm trying to decide if I should get a regular gloss paint job or a black candy. Is there really any point in getting a candy paint job if it's going to be black? Also, what's the big deal with the 4g63 vs the 420a? I read that the 420a produces 6 more horsepower than the 4g63 (I say 4g63 without the turbo).
Thanks,
Randy

First off the 4g63 engine and drive train makes a DSM a DSM. The 4g63 has about 200% more potential than the 420A. There is no such thing as black candy paint. Candy paint is a three stage system. You apply the base color generally high metallic silver then you apply the candy layer that is translucent and shows the silver base color. The candy itself adds the luminosity and depth. Then you clear it all.. Doing a candy or any three stage paint is not for armatures. I have seen professionals streak candy because its so hard to keep your pattern tight. You can use a black base coat with a candy top coat but it looks like crap. I have painted a few bikes with a black base with candy top coat and it generally does not look like candy. It just looks like regular paint with pearl in it. Any multi stage paint job costs approx 120% more than a "regular" base coat clear coat paint job. To every one that is going to reply "You dont know what your talking about the 420A is just as good as the 4g63". SAVE IT show me MULTIPLE 1000hp 420a's HELL SHOW ME ONE. There are 4g63's pushing 1200+. 1000hp STREET 4g63's do exist. As far as an n/a 4g63 vs 420A same deal 4g63 will stomp a 420 with similar mods. Sorry if you dont like to hear that but it is what it is. I know its not the truth but to me there is no such thing as a DSM made after 6 of 94... Welcome to dsmtuners btw

no dsms' made after 6/94?............................ all i have to say about that.....hmmmm... nah, i dont need to get banned again

umm what... I dont see any errors on my screen. IN MY OPINION THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A DSM MADE AFTER 6 of 1994. Key word OPINION. I double checked and there are no typo's so you need some readers or to go see an eye doctor. Or you need to learn how to spell yourself.

uh, yea ARMATURE is not the word you wanted to use in your sentence. i think the the word armature is something that is used in items like starters .

Sadly, true. DSM evaporated.

However, the builder plate on the firewall remained as a "DSM" for much longer.
