Whats up everyone!!! My first post here on Dizzum Tuners. i looked at a lot of posts, threads etc to see if anything was similar to this, but i didnt come up with anything. so if i am being redundant let me know! :thumb:

I'm 19, work and go to school full time! i'll skip my biography and get right to it! (if you would like a bio, let me know)

gots me a '97 GST. 103,000 miles on it. Pretty stock, except GReddy Type S and recently dropped some bones on Megan fully adjustable coilovers. now, i want to get serious about road racing. i have done a couple SCCA auto X events, but would like to get into track racing. i am blessed to have Miller Motorsports Park, one of the worlds best road tracks, about a half hour away.

sooooo...... WHAT DO I DO? where and how do i get sponsored, what are the good events to get recognized at, and what events are a waste of time?:confused:

i know about race schools, plan on participating in track days, and i even do a little go carting on the side too. (hey, its still track time right?) ;)

anyone with any knowledge or answers i'm sure will help me, and many other coming up racers out! if you own a company and would like to work out a sponsorship, or have any tips let me know!!!

Do you mean you plan on wheel to wheel racing, time trials or just open track days (HPDE)? If you plan on wheel to wheel, I would first figure out what club and what series you want to race in. Then figure out how to get your license to race with them. Also, knowing what class you want to race in will allow you to build your car to suit the rules.

For example, I want to race in NASA's Performance Touring class. So I'll be attending a recognized race school so that I can get my provisional license. Also, being familiar with the rules, I can build my Talon to fit into them.

As for sponsorships, it's not about what they can do for you, but what you can do for them. So obviously being established as a winning racer etc can be very beneficial. That said though, I do already have one sponsor. It started with track testimonials of the product and some pictures.

What are some race events that are cheap but still recognized? SCCA has Auto X events that run for about $50, which isnt too bad.

I agree on the grammar thing.

But anyway, check out NASA as well. I've done both NASA and SCCA track days. Typical weekend costs about $250-300 depending on the location. Which is actually not that bad considering. Most clubs will let you work the track to offset costs though. Being a corner worker helps out the club, fellow racers, and is really good for a beginner as a learning experience. It's pretty fun too.
