99 Celica GT?

DSM!!! Check this out I have friend of my brother n law and thinks his Celica GT can beat any car??? Okay this guy took off his converter and has no intake, no headers,but has a $20 chip(supposed to be a superchip) and a stage 2 clucth and now has car has 200hp and he wants to race me but my question ins DSM now where did the extra sixty-plus horses come from? The clutch? No I got it it all come from his "chip" right and by cutting his converter off. Does cutting off your converter adds horses?? Why guys please let me know about this power house 2.2liter 130hp and a 145 ft.lbs.torque!!

this thread will probably get locked, but just so you get at least one answer,

if i were you i would tell him that the only way we would race is if he paid for the gas, because his car is about as worthless to race as a civic. "superchips" cannot add 60 horsepower to any car. if you used all the electronics in the world (minus an electric engine or something like that that generates power that is directly added to the cars output) you could not gain 60 horsepower from an engine made in 1999. what his "super chip" probably does is lean out the air to fuel ratio a little and change the ignition timing some. this CAN net like 10 horses, but in most cases it doesnt, because your climit and a bunch of other variables are not the same as the place where the "super chip" was designed.

if it has the word super, or turbo in its name (unless your buying a supercharger or turbocharger) it is normally a lot worse than some other part you could buy (ie turbo exhaust vs. any other aftermarket exhaust.) or the part is completely worthless, unless you take your car to a place and they flash the chip specifically for your car.

dont waste your gas on him, or the risk of a ticket/accident

also dont ask these questions again, because they are looked down upon on this site

Thanks! I meant no proformance headers and yea you are right it will more and likely be locke but I thought it was funny that does guy says his car can BEAT anything with hardly now mods.

I would just go out and race, see what happens. If he beat you he beats, trust me it won't be your last either. Not meaning that in a smart way or anything. Just there will always be someone faster.

Just go out race him, and come back and post the outcome. More then likely it would be an even race. I don't believe he has 200 hp. Have fun

I would go out and race him i have a 95 talon on 13 psi all i have done is a apex muffler and a air intake with a boost controller and gauge i can beat gt celica's all day and i raced a ss chevy cobalt the one's that are suposta be fast and we where rooling at 30 mph and he hit it and i hit it i smoked him and i let off it and we where rooling at like 70 and hit it again and he pulled me like 1 or 2 car lenths then i went right by him and my talon is automatic all wheel drive thats the funney thing..

Dude his car is a N/T which means its slower then a Turbo AWD

As for racing I would give it a shot

Just keep an eye out for the PO PO

wow didnt even realise his car is an n/t, but either way, dont those have 2.4's. whats the hp on a stock 2.4 and whats the engine code?

i doubt his car has 200hp. also the spyders are a 2.4l with 141hp and have 148ft/lbs of torque. im not sure of the code. i say it should be a close race but you should be able to beat him. also is your car a m/t and is he m/t? a bad shift could cause a loss in this fairly equal race.
