Hi, i have a 2ng gen gsx, and my friend has a 1st gen laser, non turbo, and his check engin light went on, i was just wonder how i could check that, instead of just bringing it in, cause i know its like 30 bucks or something to get it checked at a dealer, or some shop, also if you can send me a fourm or something that has the list of all the codes, so i know what the problem is.. thanks a bunch

autozone and advance auto ought to check it for free. other its in a haynes manual along with all the codes. you need a analog voltmeter and you stick one end in the #1 pin and #12 pin of the diagnostic wiring harness under the steering column. turn the car on and the needle will sweep a certain number of times teling you the code.
see the shop manual for more detailed directions
