Hey, a mechanic told me I had a leak in my flex pipe. I was wondering could I just buy a new downpipe with the flex thing? Or would I just have to but the flex thing? and any1 know a good site for downpipes and or a flex pipe? I have a 2.5 catback btw.

Thanks

You can do 2 things.

1st replace the flex pipe, any exhaust shop can do it. (50.00 at the most)

2nd Buy a 2.5" downpipe. Buschur has a nice piece, and they sell 2.5" downpipes.

FYI the Downpipe that you purchase will come with a new flex section, it goes from the turbo, all the way to the catylitic converter

got another q, If I can headers what is better 4-2-1 or 4-1, and do headers come with the down pipe and flex part too? But people have been telling me that I wouldn't be able to pass emissions cause of the header, is that true?

I have NO idea, on NT cars, i did a quick search on Extremely Expensive Motorsports and found that they had a headerand down pipe combo, i bet it looks really nice, most of there pieces do...

BTW headers wont really affect emmissions very much. its mostly the catylitic converter that will save your car..

Greddy makes a 4-2-1 headers? the only one I see is their 4-1

thanks

Numerous mechanics have told me that if you don't have the flex pipe on there it won't allow your engine to tork and can eventually crack the manifold. Is that true? That nice flex pipe is a$110. that sucks just replaced not to long ago.

guy I know made his own dp with no flex section and what ended up happening was the engine torqued so to say and since the whole exhaust was stiff caused the exhaust manifold to twist and spew exhaust gases into the engine compartment (looked really messy). Flex section is definatley important.

any noticeable losses in power with the leak in the flex pipe? or noises in exhaust? i scrape mine every now and then in my driveway not bad cause i go slow. im gettin it checked out tomorrow. could i check it myself by jacking it up and feeling for airflow leaking out? help would be appreciated. lata.
