coolant leak by oil filter??

i changed my oil tonight, and there is this line that comes out of what appears to be the oil filter housing, and runs upwards. I had to adjust it slightly to replace the filter, and now it leaks coolant at a slow but steady pace. it has two clamps attached to it, the uppermost clamp came loose i tightened it as best i could and it still drips.
what does this line do? how can i fix it?

Are you sure that's where the coolant is coming from? If so, just replace that line, it's just a coolant line running through the oil cooler. Go to auto store and pick up a foot of coolant hose(3/8 ID if I remember right) and replace both lines while you are down there.

There is also a very good chance it is your water pump.

Have you replaced it lately?
How many miles are on your car?

the car has 180,000 miles
timing belt and water pump have about 12,000miles on them. The reason i dont think it is the wp is because it wasnt leaking before but i adjust the hose a little to get at the oil filter and it start to slowly drip and i cant seem to tighten it.
if i just pop of this hose, will coolant pour out uncontrollably??

Yes, it wil pour out uncontrollably. But a bottle of coolant is like 7 or 8 bucks, and the radiator will remain full so one gallon of coolant mixed 50/50 should be more than enough.

That is what I think is going on also. You may notice that once one coolant hose goes all of them start to go. That is what happened to me anyways.

I would take some time and go through and replace them all at once instead of doing them whenever they break
