i noticed yesterday on my way home that my oil gauge stoped working. I thought at first it was reading that i had low oil but i checked it and it seams fine. So the only conclusion i have is that it stopped working. Does anyone know how i can fix this?

I just got a new guage from saten. Cost me 80.00, for the fuel and temp guage.....

ok thats good but do you think that i need a new gauge or can i fix the one thats in there, and if i can how?

I had the same problem. First check to see if there is a wire attatched to your oil pressure sensor housing. It's located near the drive pulley and oil filter area. The oil pressure sensor housing resembles a boob and the wire should be attatched to the nipple. On my car the wire was missing back to the support bracket. I just cut off the support bracket, spliced into the wire with an extension wire, and wrapeed about 5 turns of bare copper around the nipple of the oil pressure sensor. I would recommend soldering it after you confirm that it works. Also use zip ties to secure the wire.

If the wire is still in place, your sending unit I believe is bad.

Good luck.

sending unit hugh!!! where the heck is that and how much would it be to get fixed? any clue please let me know. (i am kind of a novice when it comes to working on cars but not really afraid to get my hands dirty so any help would be much appreciated)

if there isnt a way for you to fix it as suggested above, and it comes that you need a new gauge form satan you could just buy and aftermarket oil pressure gauge. Just a thought.
Skunked

steve thanks for the link with the picture.......is the sending unit in the picture & do i have to remove the splash guard in order to fix this. Just as a thought i remove the heat shield cus it was rattling really bad. do you think that the heat might have burned through the wire and sholds i replace the heat shield?

You don't have to remove the splash guard to get at the sender. You can raise the car up and crawl under and see it but you can't take a very good picture that way.

I don't remember the wire being routed near the exhaust but in my opinion keeping the heat shields or replacing them when they rust out is a good idea in general.

Steve

well the main reason that i wanted to mention the heat sheild is cus the o2 sensor runs real close to the manifold / header or whatever its called and i just dont want something else to break or burn off.
