Ive been looking through alot of forums and threads ,and can't find any info on the ram air headlight kit /or conversion for a 2G. Ive seen a couple of pics in the gallery and id like to find one . If you have any info please let me know, thank you.

If you find acompany that makes one, let me know... I'll be the first to buy one......

I sold my old one that I made by hand..... Took too much time to even begin to describe how I did it -- I won't tell anyone, dont ask

If you know how to work with fiberglass it's easy.

Naw, just wanna tease people and give them a sh-itty pic. I have a better pic, but I'm lazy.

with all the apc *crap* on the market. im surprised that as popular as 2g light conversions are none have actually produced a ram air head light.

I just finished it up about a couple hours ago. Intake temps droped about 5-6 deg. after 1st gear (just initial logs, nothing too detailed yet). Just wanted to get some input on it, how it looks, anyone else done it?

Well, all I used was some aluminum ducting from Homedepot and a couple dremel tools. It was kind of scary cutting into the headlight like that, but im gonna get a spare soon for the winter. I really didnt plan it out that much, I kind of just jumped into the project.

nice work have you ever considered something like this? if i still had an underhood intake id probably go this route. however your head light mod looke great:thumb:

Well, easier said than done. This actually took me all weekend to complete (getting the parts, making measurements, testing it out, not to mention stopping it from fogging up). Theres a lot of trial and error when fabbing this yourself. Yeah, it may look easy, but I guarantee you that its a little harder than just dremeling out a hole and sticking things in there.

And yes, there will be a walk-through on this soon.

heres some newer pics of my car..i figured ide just start a new thread rather then loading the other up with more pics...changes are: repainted manifold, custom headlight ram air, custom 4" intake, redid FPR setup.

heres the pics

heres the info on the intake pipe

i have been running the filter right off the turbo setup for awhile and have been looking for some nice cheap plastic pipe bends so i can make a intake tube for it..well after combing home depot, lowes, ect...i really could find anything but the heavy and ugly pvc crap..until i stumbed across these in the sears/craftsman online store.

i used two of the 4" elbows for my intake pipe..cut and jb welded them to the right angle i needed then took perminate marker and colored over it...so only $10 into the pipe, opposed to much more for a custom or prefabbed metal one. the pipes are pretty damn thick and strong too..perfect for garage fabbers like myself.

the headlight was done with by cutting out the entire high beam on the headlight and slowely opening the holes up to 3"...sealed off with RTV and a couple dabs of jbweld to keep it from moving.

i got the plastic pieces from lowes..i just searched the leaf blower isle and found what i needed..sorry no part number or anything..i actually had to stick a bar code sticker from something else on there because i dont think it was suppose to be sold individually :D but thast a whole different story

any questions are welcome

Did that ram air headlight make any difference that you can notice??

to tell you the truth i dont know for sure..i know supra guys gain 2-3mph usually by removing the headlight since their intakes sit here there too.

i figure it defintely doesnt hurt and it gave me something to do

Awesome DIY job. Let me know how that plastic piece holds up to the underhood heat. If all goes well, I'll definitely look into fabbing up something like for the little 14b.

BTW, I'm a little iffy on the ram air though. Do you run that all the time? Get any wierd stares? heh heh But all kidding aside, how much further can you open that headlight up? I was thinking of fabbing a cold air setup, which would place the filter in the stock SMIC location.

if i drove it more i would cut down the part of the ram air so its flush with the headlight, but since its very rarely driven on the street i just left it so it would bring as much air in as possible.

you really cant open the headlight up much more the i did without mishaping the whole..i wanted to do a 4" all the way in to the turbo, but it just wasnt feasible.

i drove the car in 90deg. heat for about 45min in stop and go traffic to the track last week and the intake help up good..its really hard/thick plastic so i think it should hold up

Nice, that engine bay looks clean enough to eat off off, the headlamp intake could use some cosmetic work to not look like a horn sticking out of the headlamp though, like cut it shorter and bend it out so it pushes against the inside of the lamp.

i was going to trim it but it brings in a little more air the way it is because it spans out like a funnel to over 5"...i may end up cutting it if i get the motivation before the shootout, we'll see
