hey guys, read this import tuner article about a talon. i'm just curious on why it only has 157 ponies?

"" Considering the engine is rated at 200 horses, were we amazed that the car was able to put out 157.2 ponies with 143.4 lb-ft of torque""

http://www.importtuner.com/tech/0308it_pptalon/

"Even the earlier owner had no idea about its condition since it has not been registered since '99. After viewing the vehicle's condition, it appears there was an engine fire and the OE engine was swapped with a J-Spec unit."

Yeah. Gee, and 6 more horsepower from $100 worth of ground wires, can I guess (along wth all the other "fixes") if they're a sponsor or not?

My ass. No one reading this forum is driving a car that effing far out of tune, and if they are, they don't give a whit about putting it on a dyno.

Goddamned magazines.

157.2??? WTF r u talkin bout bro? last mag i read that dyno'd an awd 1G 4G63T showed 190.6hp and 198.2tq. i posted all the #'s before, but if anyone wants to see what exhaust/downpipe, intercooler n all that actually adds, i can post it again. i was most surprised by the K&N filter adding 11.2hp and 22.1tq. this is straight from the dyno sheets guys...

That was probably at the crank, and if your referring to that old Import Tuner mag that DDP dynoed a 1g. I have always had my doubts, and so have many others, about the baseline hp #'s of that specific vehical testing. There is a big difference between crank hp and wheel hp, especially for an AWD. 157 whp is about right for a STOCK 1g AWD turbo that's rated at 195 crank hp from the factory. Most STOCK fwd turbo 2g's dyno at 172 to 178 whp stock. 15 to 17% drivetrain loss for a fwd, and a 20 to 22% drivetrain loss for an AWD.

umm, have any of you read the article in, i think, super street or scc?

every dyno reads a little differently, none of them read the same as the other.

also, magazines are pure bullshit.. you wanna know what your car puts down.. go to the dyno and pay 60 bux. Gets ya three runs or buy an hour for around 100 and do as many as you like.

peace!
