Transmissions

What problems arise with transmissions on these cars? How can they be avoided?

If I find an automatic DSM, is there any way i can change the transmission and shove a manual one in there instead? HOw high would be the costs for such a transformation, or is the engine not made fit to accept a manual transmission?

This topic has been beat to hell, but yes it can be done with ALOT of work and alot of money. Or a donor manual dsm.

And to avoid problems just change the trans. fluid, and filter frequently and don't beat on it all the time.
