Like the topic states.

On my 92,

My old 14b kicked the bucket, I replaced it with a almost new 14b. Since then I am having a problem with creep.

I set my controller @ 11psi and it still walks at the top of 2nd and all the way through 3rd, I will get up to about 18psi and hit fuel cut. I even tried re attaching the stock set up, (no boost controler) and it still does it.

My exhaust mods are 2.5 in mandrel bent turbo back w/ test pipe. (buschur),

my old turbo didn't do this, it was not ported, either is this one.

any thoughts would be appreciated, Im sick of scratchin my head on this one. Its a 14b damnit,, not like Im pushin some huge turbo that needs an external waste gate.

Thanks

It doesn't matter what turbo it is. Creep is creep. You will always get it when you upgrade the exhaust system. Especially if you take away the cat. I have a 3" turboback exhaust with a high-flo cat and I get creep up to 17psi. There is nothing to do except add your cat back on the car and port the wastegate hole. Or you can just let it be and compensate the fuel for the extra lbs. of boost.

I think boost creep wins the award for topic most beaten to death, and least searched for.

What you need to do is increase the flow ability of the wastegate. This can be accomplished by porting it (there is a VFAQ), porting it and adding a bigger flapper (34mm) or going to an external wastegate.

Try just porting it first, that should fix it.

External dumped internal gates don't usually do any better than a regular internal gate.

I guess I kinda posted because I just wanted someone else to tell me that I was gonna have to port the waste gate hole. I knew that was the ultimate solution but didn't wanna have to take the stupid exhaust housing off the car and port the damn thing.

I have an extra one kickin around I could do before hand but I guess I am just lazy and wanted to make a few runs this race season before I go off to sales school.

Sux to be me.

Thanks guys.

Kyle,, placin any bets on when NED will be open?

Fri or next Wed?

if it is a new turbo, and the same as what came off, first make sure the wastegate can fully open. It may have gotten bent in shipping or may be defective.
