check instead of pcv? Or Size upgrade

Can I swap a pcv valve for a us plastic check valve?
Or do I need both for the right effect?

Also I read Jacks anti catch can thread where he added a second pcv valve...
Has anyone tried to just ad a larger pcv valve like a 1/4" bsp one from a Nissan?
 
Use the big vacuum nipple from the back of a spare intake manifold(junkyard or something) in place of the pcv valve. Its the brake booster nipple, its straight through and the ID is alot larger than that of a PCV valve; even if the valve has been hollowed out. Make sure to use a check valve with this though and preferably a catch can. My 2 cents.

These are 1/4" npt fittings drilled out to accept snorkels which are super glued in place. the valve cover has been taped to accept the fittings. I will be putting the baffle back on with ss screws taped into the aluminum.

I'm not sure if super glue will hold up, I'd apply some Black RTV just to be safe. Red thread locker on the screws would also be a good idea. :thumb:
 
Do you leave baffle out when you do a setup like this? Im planning on it over the summer but im worried that without the baffle a shit ton of oil would find its way to my catch can

Yes, without baffles of some kind you'll lose more oil through the crankcase vents. That's also discussed in the thread I linked.

Tapped 6-32 holes and used pan head screws.
The holes on the inside were drilled straight through. They are under the spark plug cover and won't be seen. I will use blue thread lock when time to assemble. As for the super glue, it should hold up fine. The inside of the brass was stepped so even without the glue the "snorkels" have a snug fit. If the glue does fail the tube can't go far as the baffling is in place. After paint and a final cleaning I will be applying RTV to the perimeter of the baffling for assembly.

I have also tapped the intake manifold for 1/4" npt and ported the inlet leading to it. Another option would have been to get 1/4"-19 BPT to 90 hose barb and replace the caps in the sides of the PCB bore holes.

Now is a us plastic one way valve good enough or do I need a PCV valve of some type?
