Hey guys, my car is acting strange, it runs perfectly fine when it's warm, but on cold days, it fails to start, and when it does start, the rpms fluctuate from 600 to 1100 until it's warmed up, and then it is steady, and runs perfectly, except an occasional power hiccup, which I think may be just a boost leak that I just fixed (haven't been able to test drive it yet)

ill check the cts when i get home, but the iac i just checked like last week when i was doing idle adjustments. i tried to take off the cts this morning when i was leaving for school, but the damn thing wouldnt come off, and was begining to strip the head, so worst come to worst ill have to replace the thermostat housing, since i have like 10 of them laying around in my garage. what could it be if it isnt either one of those? or is that the only thing it could be? those two things are the only things i could come up with on my own, but i figured i'd post just in case.

thanks!

i have a question... i only have one plug going to my thermostat housing, and i was wondering if thats the gauge sensor, or if thats the one that goes to the ecu, if it is the one for the coolant temp gauge, then could that be why my car is acting funny on cold start??

One sensor goes to your dash gauge (circled sensor you have marked gauge is correct) and the other sensor goes to the E.C.U and yes, it will cause problems trying to start up and run.

I was wondering the same because my car is a SOB to start when its cold and i have cel code 0115 (coolant temp sensor) i thought the very bottom 1 wire plug was for the dash gauge and the 2 wire plug goes to the ecu and the very top 2 wire plug was for the fan? Here is a pic of mine

well that kinda sucks, because my car has a wire tuck that the PO did, and he removed those plugs apparently, so im SOL i guess, i just overheated pretty bad on the way home today, and lost power steering somehow... idk how/what would cause that, but that sucks badly

wow... i just thought about it, and i think i may have broken the belt on the water pump/powersteering , i smelled some rubber burning, which i thought was just from one of my buddies doing burn outs, but then i lost power steering, i'm guessing that explains the lack of power steering and the overheating, but still i replaced the temp sensor, whichever one it is that i have connected, so i guess ill ahve to see what it looks like in the morning... :banghead: :banghead:

Need to start simple.. Make sure thermostat is working and temp sensors.. See if coolant is flowing from water pump. And the rad cap raises the boiling point of coolant if its holding proper pressure about 14.5 psi

sensor are working, new t-stat,rad cap, and radiator. water pump is flowing perfectly, i took my car out for a spin full boost saturday, after filling the coolant with the garden hose, and accidentally got water where the spark plug cover should be, and while driving, i guess some of the water got in cylinder 4 above the spark plug, and it wont start now. i let it dry, and its acting like the battery is dead, my apexi turbo timer is reading voltage at 10.6 volts, so i guess when i get a chance ill go try to jump start it.
