My money is on no, it doesn't look like the other used one I have. Bought it off ebay, was advertised as OEM. I know sometimes there are variations, so I thought id double check before I sent a vehement message to the ebay seller. Submitted for your approval/disapproval:

This is an OEM belt, yours is not.

Even though the "MD326059" numbers are the same, the top one isn't genuine but a cheap knockoff.

Interesting that it shows the number of teeth and the tooth pitch in the second number "153TEETH29"

I have the OEM shown above in my DSM - put in over 4yrs ago and still running strong.

"Caveat Emptor" ! - (is Latin for "Let the buyer beware.")

No it's not genuine. There's a fine line on eBay about what is truly OEM and what is just 'built to' OEM specifications (take that with a grain of sand)

Gotta watch out on eBay. Pisses me off sometimes and this is usually how it goes:

Send a message to the seller, politely tell them to pay for the shipping back since they screwed you because it's counterfeit/fake. They usually tell you to shove it. Unfortunately for them, eBay is biased towards the buyer. A few clicks away and you open a counterfeit case. State the problem and [basically] your demands then bam -a day later eBay makes them pay up so you're not out any money. I had to do that a couple times for expensive items

Yeah, I've dealt with this sort of thing on ebay before. I've sold things where I had to pay return shipping because the buyer either bought the wrong thing, or just decided they didn't want it anymore. Allright, thanks guys, I was pretty sure it was fake, just wanted a few other pairs of eyes. I made sure I asked him if it was OEM and not OE, and he said it was. He either didn't know or figured I wouldn't know the difference. Dispute opened, and condescending message sent. Joking about the latter ;) I'll save that for if he decides to be a douche.

My last word on ebay: You can get some great deals on parts off of there on genuine parts, and save a good amount of money, but sometimes it just costs you time and effort. I've yet to have a transaction where I got ripped off, however, ebay customer support always gets me my $$$.

I Checked ITM's site and their belts don't have any of those markings ...

That belt above really has to be an "off-the-wall" brand, that failed quality control inspection, and, then bought and sold by some "back alley" supplier.

So ebay decided in this guy's favor for some RIDICULOUS reason, he was a real jackass, and I was feeling pretty pissed until he sent me this message:

(In response to me sending him a message that the belt wasn't OEM, and since he claimed to own a dsm, I said we both know what OEM is)

I have owned 7 so far. Now its down to 3. One is for racing I hold the record for fastest 1/4 mile times in the world for a DSM almost got beat by john Sheppard a few weeks ago but not yet, one is a spyder awd for summer time and a regular coupe awd for winter, as well as owning my own shop with a dyno. I no OEM while you like to describe it as word for word doesn't actually mean by using that word that its from Mitsu, or Toyota, or Ford I just means it an OEM Stock style and design. If I said dealer part, or from Mitsu then you would've won. And I it wouldn't have listed it for $50 its would've been listed for $100 because one dealer belt goes for $125 and the balance shaft belt goes for $55 thats $180. Sorry you didn't read the auction. Why eBay is a problem sometimes because idiots like you don't read. You could've just took my offer of $47.45 but now you cant because Im not allowed to accept a return from you now because eYOU open then case and I won. And if you look for the sets of belts just the belts they go for $90 for both. I got these in a set with the OEM tensioner and decided to use a gates racing belt on my current rebuild.

But in any case thanks for rushing into things and not thinking thing through because if you let me explain why I was adding a restocking fee is because i don't accept returns but in your case I would've because you thought it was a Mitsu part... I was being nice but these are coming from my business so I need to recoup my losses so how and that fee was they way. Also im sorry that you thinking youre this master part man or mechanic. Go to school, like grade school again join the Marines at 18 go to Iraq and Afghanistan like did ooh rah get wounded like I did and learn to read first then go to school for auto tech like i did open a $400,000 shop make $250,000 a year and have a beautiful wife whom i just bought a brand new porsche for her birthday and kids then message me again and ill give you a belt for free. Get on my level.

This made me laugh so hard that i almost forgot I lost out on this money! LOL I didn't know I was dealing with a decorated war veteran, hot bi*** banging, world class dragster racing baller! That changes everything!

First off, it's John Shepherd. Anyone who knows these cars knows how to spell his name.

Secondly, John isn't even actively competing that car right now....so unless he's stuck in 2006 then there was no race between Shep and this douchebag.

And I it wouldn't have listed it for $50 its would've been listed for $100 because one dealer belt goes for $125 and the balance shaft belt goes for $55 thats $180.
Better let STM know they're losing a F*CKLOAD of money selling them for $77! OMG

^ You should file that with eBay as harassment. Actually file the whole message. :D

You can still appeal their decision. I'd make this guy's life a living hell at this point based on his sheer ignorance.....ESPECIALLY if the belt you received wasn't what was in the auction's photo.

Oh look, here's a complete OEM-quality kit from Contitech for $55 shipped. Wrong again on your pricing, champ.

Glad to know all that education and military training didn't teach you DICK about the English language. Wounded my ass- this guy sounds like the type who twisted his ankle and got discharged, now thinks the entire US population owes him something.

Google map the return address from the box it was shipped in and post up the photos of the one-room shack this tool lives in with four DSM's outside on jackstands. :D

Haha I googled it up, here we go:

Unfortunately, the google people thought too little of this street to drive down it to take photos, however, I think the barn/house/garage he bought with his quarter million dollar a year business is the one on the left! LOL
As a bonus, I think the google van even got a picture of his supermodel wife hanging out there in the street! My money is on the brand new Porche being in that one car lean-to shack right there, what do you guys think?

The only million-dollar businesses in Grove City are the factory outlets. Sorry, toolbag....you lose.

I'd start getting a bunch of random useless junk mail sent to him- or if you can get a better pic of the house, put it up for sale on Craigslist every day using his email as the return with a price tag of $19,900 saying you need to sell it fast. LOL

I like the "posted by ebay asshat" addition to the thread.

Damn. I knew there were some tools out there but this guy is something else. That honestly sucks you lost the case but I would do as justin said all the way up to put his house up for sale on Craig's list!

Speaking of Contitech: Heard some distant buzz that Contitech manufactures OEM belts for Mitsu under contract along with some other companies...

...Is this factual, or some thought that got dreamt up and got put in the wind to be blown around some.

Wow. Is this guy for real? He must have less then 100 feedback then or 100+ with more than a few negative hits on his rep. You could still win on appeal, just act professional and don't make it personal like this 'pro seller' has made it out to be. The response he sent you should get eBay on your side.

I wouldn't even care about the money, I'd just want to make this guy get off eBay as a seller. Some of these sellers are so damn annoying and unprofessional.

Let us know how this works out.

post the link of the product you bought, or atleast the seller's ebay name. im curious to what he sells now.

New Timing Belt and Balance Shaft Belt DSM Eclipse 95 99 | eBay

He's currently selling nothing, I thought I was good because he had 100% feedback rating, but then after the all this happened i realized that was all seller feedback. He's only ever sold 2 things, and those were in the last week. What really chaps my ass is that I PM'ed him before I bought it and asked him specifically if they were mitsubishi oem, and he point blank lied. The other guy he sold to gave him positive feedback and told him "thanks for understanding." Where was my understanding when he point blank lied to me and then told me to screw off when I asked for a refund?

Part of the problem is the assumption that OEM means Mitsubishi. Now days OEM could mean anything from Gates to Contitech to Taiwanese crap. If it were genuine Mitsubishi, it would be labeled OE.

Not saying your in the wrong, this guy is a tool and knew exactly what you meant. But had you purchased an OE part an received Tawian junk, there would be no dispute.

Part brand is listed as Top Line, so your hands are tied unless you complain that it doesn't match the photos which were just stolen stock photos from the internet.
Yeah that is the thing that really mystified me, its obvious he knew what he was doing, but I don't remember seeing that when I went through the auction the first time. I sent him the message, and then paid. It's possible he revised the listing after I agreed to buy it, as I told him I would paypal the money the next day. It's also very possible I just overlooked it. Only one thing I know for sure - this topline belt is a piece of shit. It's ridiculously pliable and the outside of the belt is furry! Furry! I can literally pet it and derive enjoyment from the experience.

As a sidenote, im calling ebay customer service tommorow and asking them that since I was rejected my money back, if I can just start posting auctions for something like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/John...n-/321007513997?forcev4exp=true#ht_783wt_1186

Scroll down to the bottom.
