Tranny issues

So I got into a little accident and spun 360 in my car on the freeway, dang rain. Anyways the biggest concern I have is that the transmission(automatic) has trouble when trying to go into gear like park, nuteral, reverse or drive. But once it gets into gear it drive and shifts just fine, even boosting no problem. What could it be?

Could the accident have messed up the shifter linkage on top the transmission? Maybe it is bent and not moving right.

As both have stated its a good chance it is the linkage. I had this problem after skidding and hitting a pitbull that got lodged under car(pit survived if you can believe that!) on another non dsm vehicle. Ended up being the linkage got kinked and caused the auto tranny to get stuck and not be able to get out of gear.
