A bearing went out on my 1997 talon 420a. It sounds like my car is knocking but it is the bearing. Can I change the bearing without pulling the engine or rebuilding it. Can I just drop the oil pan and do it there. Some cars you can but I'm not sure on the 420a. Thank you

If you have sufficient access to the oil pan, it could be done in the car in theory, but honestly you would be better off pulling the whole engine, also, if you wiped a bearing, you will need to have the crank machined, and go to oversized bearings, unless its in good enough shape to just polish, and should look over the rest of the motor. Honestly your best bet is finding a good used engine, or buying a new shortblock.

I would highly advise against it however it could be done. You might get in there and see some damaged rods or crank. Do it once do it right. Plus metal shavings could be in the head which you would want to get cleaned along with the block so you dont just trash your new bearings again.
