ignition trouble

Alright, just bought the car not too long ago. What i know so far is that cylinders 1 and 4 are not firing. 2 and 3 are. Known good: plugs, wires, transistor, coil, mpi relay, CAS, ecm.

I've been doing a lot of checking on the harness, I've torn it out and ohmmed all of the wires pertaining to the ignition system. A guy before me tried fixing it but it scares me to talk about how he thinks. He liquid taped the transistor connector wires to try to fix it. I've shortened it and resoldered the connector. The yellow wire going in between the transistor and ecm had a distorted terminal which i replaced and resoldered. I'm stuck, in addition the car has low compression and burns oil.

Any suggestions? Thanks

i dont think the caps are leaking, the ecu has been replaced and ive relooked at the ecu and the caps look fine. There is no discoloration on the board, solder trails are clean, and the capacitors are in tact.

If you KNOW that the coil pack, transistor, and cas are in good working order than i would suspect something in the ecu or wiring. You have for sure tested the coil pack, transistor, cas, and continuity on wiring harness. If the components are functional, and the wires between the ecu and components are functional than there is really nothing else that it could be other than the ecu.

From experience I did the same thing you did until I took a long shot and sent my ecu off and they confirmed leaking caps. I literally spent three month throwing parts at it, but it ran smooth as hell when I got my ecu back

I wouldn't just buy one any throw it in there. I would see if you can borrow one from someone to check. Any 91-94 turbo ecu will work.

Same thing happened to me. I replaced tons of things and was still stumpped for about a month. Finally thought about it could be the ECU. Slapped one in and my car ran smooth.
