Hey guys i havent been on here in quite some time, things in life can get the better of you and your time lol. So i recently sold my talon esi and purchased a 95 auto tsi which i plain swapping to manual at some point in the future but for now today i was driving it and the engine light came on and the engine bogged then it went away. its done this about 3-4 times today. its so quick when it happens too. I could really use some insight on what this could be because other then that the car runs like a dream. Thanks in advance!

First read out the error code (many auto parts places will do this for free (eg. Autozone)). Some error codes remain stored even though they may be intermittent.

Possible causes:

1. Manifold Differential Pressure Sensor failed.
2. Open or shorted manifold differential pressure sensor circuit or loose connector.
3. Engine Control Module (ECM) failed.

ok so i had the map checked seems that the previous owner tried to put silicone around the circular gasket so i cleaned it all up and changed the gasket, now the issue is much less frequent almost non existent but when it does happen its really bad and only seems to happen when i hit a hard bump or something on the road. Also the vehicle has started to hesitant when when i try to give it a lot of gas.

Are you still throwing the same code (or any code) when it bogs? If the problem seems to happen most when hitting a hard bump, that usually indicates either a bad electrical connection, like a loose connector or sensor has a bad internal connection, or a wiring harness short that connects to ground on when you hit your hard bumps.

Hey guys here is an update, i have not changed the sensor yet ill be doing it this week, but i did figure out the whole engine light coming on and the car bogging down to almost 0 rpms. It seems that the hood was too low on the battery side and when i was hitting a bump the positive terminal on the battery was hitting the bottom of the hood and was causing it to arc out. noticed this when i popped the hood yesterday and smelt something burning and saw a burn mark under the hood that lined up with the battery terminal. so that issue is fixed and hasn't happened since. the car still hesitates though when giving it a lot of gas. Hopefully changing the map senor will fix this issue because everything else checks out to be fine based on what my mechanic has said.

hey guys sorry for the late update ive been really busy with work and my son, but i changed the map sensor and the issue was mostly resolved there was a tiny tiny bit of bogging frim time to time but almost unnoticable. that only lasted about a week and the bogging is even worse now and happens when i give it alot of gas or if im on the highway at for instance 100km and if i need to go faster it will hesitate and bog etc almost feels like there isnt enough fuel getting to the engine. im getting really frustrated because i want to really enjoy this car and i cant. theother thing is there were 2 different times when i heard a pop when it hesitated and it sounded like it cam from the exhaust pipe under the car near the front end. Hopefully someone can narrow it down for me. thanks again everyone.

possibly the ignition timing? try putting a timing light on there. or it could be somthing as simple as bad or improperly gapped spark plugs. throw some new ngks in there. and make sure to always use premuim gas with the turbo cars.
