Just finished buttoning up a project for a friend of mine. Its a 90 Talon TSI FWD. We rebuilt the motor with stock internals (kid was short on $$$) It is bored .050 over, engine has small 16g turbo, FMIC, MAFT ver. 1.3, had 750cc FIC injectors which i finally convinced the kid to take out because theyre overkill for the build especially for a stock fuel pump. Its not my first go around with these cars or this problem im having. So on to the problem. Went to drive the car to seat the rings and after giving it a hard pull in 2nd gear and again in 3rd i realized that i was hitting fuel cut at around 5500 to 6k at 13 psi of boost. Now I had this identical problem with my 92 GSX but im running 8.5:1 JE pistons and i was told it was due to the fact that 1st gens have an aggressive timing table and the only true way to fix it was dsmlink/ecm tuning. I was able to fix the problem on the 92 gsx by keeping the boost at 12 psi or lower. Im just wondering if theres any possibility that because his engine is bored that im having the same problem? Thanks for any help in advance.:)

So he put the 450s back in? AS for the boring the compression isn't going to give you fuel cut from what I'm aware of, now him changing injectors could, without dsm link the ecu wont be able to regulate the changes of the injectors, and though stock injectors can support up to 16psi if I'm not mistaking they should be fine. best bet is to check the injectors and make sure they arnt clogged, make sure his ecu is programed for the injectors hes using.

750s should be fine on the 16g and no the boring has nothing to do with fuel cut or fuel issues. Id be on the verge of worrying about whether or not my motor is gonna overheat with .50 over. I know there are guys with .60 over but just a little too much for my taste. Go buy link leave the 750s for play later on and go get a tune is my suggestion.
