Oil pump help!

Hello all.
I've finally started my car project and tore in to the motor last week. I've currently have the block ready for the machine shop (and EVO 8 pistons LOL). I was looking at the oil pump after I had cleaned it up and it looked fine. It already had the balance shafts eliminated and I decided today to take it apart to make sure it had an oem stubby shaft. Just my luck it did not and the shaft is grooved and scarred really bad.

do you think because the shaft is scarred then the back oil pump case is too scarred to use? Cause I'm thinking I may need a new oil pump but let me know thanks

Damn....I guess ill get a new pump. Probably go with a Hyundai one to save some loot

Yea get a new one for sure! What motor did that come off of? Yours? Most likely why it failed it the first place! How did your rod and main bearings look?

I bought a 1ga shell with just a short block. The bearings looked great actually. Dude who had it before me did a rebuild and used his old oil pump and as soon as he turned it over dropped a valve. Rods are frankenstine 6 bolt, with 2g pistons and look brand new. Bearings also new
 
If you've already got the shafts out, I'd just look at the case. But I would probably get a new one just to be safe.

dude mine was the exact same way from the retard i got my 1g from. and the engine only had 17k on it. just buy a new oil pump cover and you'll be fine. that's what i did and mine looked the exact same as yours. i got it for $10 from a partout on here. good luck :)

That is toasted. Better check everything for shavings, turbo, etc.

The block is completely torn down and I'm getting it checked and machined. It didn't come with a turbo so no worries there. Getting a new oil pan (na oil pan so I can weld on 12an fitting for hx40), and when I took off the old one there was no metal shavings that I could see. I'm going to spray out the oil filter housing as best as I can just in case anything got past the oil filter

Thank goodness there are forums like this for our project cars. I hope that does not happen to me in the future. I would clean out the entire engine and turbo like suggested.

2.0's do not like debris in any shape or form.

Get a new one vendors have good prices extreme psi had one on sale got mine there. I just did a full rebuild, with turbo, i feel much better now.
