alright well this short bent hardline is my factory fuel feed to the filter. I cut it off with new pipe cutters, the best place for a new cut since it got kinked above. does this hardline look like it can still be properly double-flared? so on my other thread someone mentioned you can't just hose clamp a hose onto this fuel line? even with braided hosing clamps and sealant? I mean the.fuel return is just hose clamped directly to a hardline, I don't get it, I know there's fuel pressure obviously, but why to just the filter?

this is another pics of the hardline, next to the fuel tank vent.

I was wondering if anybody knew if this universal filter can be used / made into a breather for the fuel tank vent? I haven't removed the last piece on the vent line since the.canister removal untill I get a breather, but this was laying around the garage.

this just shows the regular black hose that meets up with the fuel return hardline. is there ANY way I can get away with doing this to the hard-line to filter? or do I just need to
run a whole new braided hose from pump to filter?

YES

Correct, the end of the hardline would need to be beaded to do that properly.

even with braided hosing clamps and sealant?
Use approved fuel injection hose clamps and fuel injection hose, and don't put sealant on any hoses.

The fuel system is subject to high pressure (possibly up to 75 psi) up to the fuel pressure regulator. After the regulator, there is only whatever pressure is required to flow back to the tank unrestricted.

Splendid!

I'm sure it's better than an open line where bugs can crawl into the tank.

Yes, if you bead the hardline and use approved fuel injection clamps and fuel injection hose.

Personally if I wanted to run new lines from front to back, I would run new steel (reasonably permanent, and about $15 for 25 feet), but it's your money, your car.

Hope this helps :thumb:

So I can bead the hardline? Is there a different tool you use to do that? Or can it be done with a flaring tool?

So just hose clamps and braided hose, AFTER I bead the hardline, correct? How come no sealant? I wanted to just add some JB weld on the outside of the hose, just to be sure, it's a pain to get off but still.

Did you notice on that universal filter, how there's 2 sides that are open, should I cap the top off? It's not a breather but an actual filter.

At the very minimum, you should bead the end of the tube, and slip some fuel injection hose over the end.

You can bead the tubing with a double flaring tool, just do the first step of the flaring process about halfway, and you're done.

I drew you a picture in case you didn't understand the first time I told you:

I have never seen this done with any success, but maybe you can explain the point of JB welding a flexible rubber hose.

Yes, I am familiar with universal fuel filters, I have been working on cars since the old days when they were used as fuel filters.

If you cap the other end, wouldn't it just be a plug? Why would that be different than just pluging the vent at the tank?
