Helo friends ! I need your help
I'm about to change my radiator and I need to know if an Aftermarket radiator with support the stock fans ? CxRacing or Mishimoto for example...

If not, will the unshrouded slim ones work well ?

i would just get 2 slim fans.. makes things easier and there not that expensive
How does it make things easier and what significant gains will the OP get from converting to the "slim fans" you recommend?

The stock fans will bolt right up and have a combined flow of 1600cfm, plenty of cooling and better than any knock of eBay slim fan. Granted, you've got a thicker fan but they are also shrouded better which increases their cooling abilities as well.

Im running the mishimoto radiator and using one stock fan on the pass side, I'll need a slim fan for the driver cause its pretty tight in there with the manifold Ive got pics with one fan in place and the other OEM fan I have sitting around that doesnt fit.
 
Either of you got a fmic? Any clearance issues with upgraded turbos, manifolds, radiator w/ fan and intercooler?

I look at my car and wonder how the heck does it fit. Top view pics ###?

Heres what Im workin with, I got a slimmer fan out of I think 99 clipse, was thinner then another fan but still to big for my application..

would a fmic fit with the new radiator and a slimfit fan? in that space you have between the radiator and the exhaust? I'm assuming thats where it would go.

Yes it should fit perfectly fine, i am running an aftermarket MIZU radiator and an HKS FMIC and everything fits. The only problem i've had is that the intercooler piping used to interfere with the fan, so i switched to slimline and have no problems at all from then on.

Yeah that empty spot is where Ill eventually slid another fan, like i said the one i got off a 99 was slim but not enough a slimfan should fit and just bolt right up, on the highway my cars temp rises but never actually over heats hopefully a 2nd fan cures that im not sure where the original one went...:hmm: but hopefully a slimmm fan will fit right in!:)
 
You can get a shroud & 2 fans for about 100 on Ebay....I had this set up on my last DSM. It was like $230 shipped for everything...CX Racing

Get the shroud....then the fans bolt right up otherwise you need to use the kit or fab something. Shroud looks better & helps in cooling
 
Im hoping stock radiator, stock fans(trimmed shrouds) and PR fmic with a pte5858 turbo. Will find out tomorrow if this is possible at all. Got the dremel ready tho!
 
I've got 2 12" amazon.com generic slim fans on the stock radiator, no cooling issues in slow traffic/sitting at lights which is where the fans matter.

Though I am looking to get an aluminum radiator and a shroud asap.

Ha! Same boat as you. Instead mine is the 16g. I will see tomorrow or sat. Fingers cross.

The only prob you might have is the jpipe. From what ive heard thats the part that gets in the way the most. Atleast your comp housing isnt a monster LOL. I couldnt believe it when i compared my 5858 to my t25! Its a downfiring so i think ill be ok but ill have to trim the ac(drivers side) fan. HOPING like all hell.
My engine just got finished today and im picking it up from the machinist(for the 2nd time) at 8am. Cant wait. We all know the feeling of looking at your baby in pieces for months not being able to drive it, and the anxiety that builds up. Dont know if i can sleep tonight.

btw, sorry to thread jack, just hyped. Ill post up results with the fans/pte/PR fmic combo to let everyone know what happened. Same should apply to most downfiring turbos.
