normal oil pressure?

hey guys. just wanted some opinions on my oil pressure...im using 10w-30 btw and going to switch to maybe 20w-40. on a cold start-up at idle i can get anywhere from 30 to 40 psi and when accelerating it can go over 100 psi. now once it warms up i get around 10 psi at idle and at 80 mph at 3500 rpm anywhere from 58 to 62 psi and when accelerating ive seen it go up to 80 - 90 psi.

would this be considered normal? could the pressure relief valve spring be stuck? maybe just need thicker oil?

also i saw on all data the specified oil pressure at idle is 11.4 psi and in arizona temperatures it recommends 20w-40 oil.
 
A stock and healthy engine will go up to 100 psi.
But, If it has a thicker oil, Of course it will go higher.

I was using 10-30, and some times Hit 100psi.

Now that I switched to a thicker oil, Some times I Hit a little over 100psi.

I still have the balance shaft, and no porting at all.

Curious thing, that I used to see from 15 to 20psi at idle (when cold).
Now with thicker oil, I see only 10 to 12 psi at Idle (when cold).

That doesn't make any sense to me.:confused: The thicker oil will make the pressures higher both cold and hot...period. What kind of guage are you reading your pressures off of miguelmcv? Is it a stock or aftermarket guage? If it's a stock guage I would take it with a grain of salt, as they can be a little misleading.

Yes you are right, (It doesn't makes any sense).

I have AEM gauge, and is reading good, Also I replaced the relief valve and didn't changed at all.

I know it doesn't sounds right, But I checked everything and couldn't find anything.

Once I changed back to 10-30, everything came back to normal (15 to 20psi at idle when cold and some times hits 100psi at wot when hot).

What was it?
I don't know.

That's why I said,

(EVERY CAR IS DIFFERENT).
 
I run 15w50, and my numbers are MUCH different from what everyone here describes theirs to be. I get a very HIGH pressure at cold starts and when I'm at normal operating temp. (190-210), my pressure fluxuates with my rpm from 25-75psi

b/s removed.
 
i just changed my oil and got a new weight oil...i got 10w-40 and at hot idle its been anywhere from 14 to 19 psi but my car seems to idle a bit higher as well...im going to check tomorrow because i have a 50 mile drive so i will let you guys know
