What size fuel pump would be enough to feed the 044?
The reason i am asking is because, i just spent a few hours taking my evo 8 fuel pump out of one car, and installing it into this one to feed my 044.
I'm going lean at the top end, i think the pump is not able to suck enough fuel through the sump i had welded on because no matter how much fuel i add it is still in the 13-13.5:1 area.. Maybe the sump was installed incorrectly, the hole to small, wrong area etc.
So i just put the evo 8 fuel pump in which is about 190 lph and the bosch 044 sucks more fuel then the evo 8 can deliver.
Unless my pump is just no good and isnt performing like it should. i pulled it out of a car that sat for a year. But i did soak it in gasoline and clean it really good. made sure the pump works correctly.
The evo 8 pump will push 60 psi of fuel pressure alone, but with both combined the line goes dry in between the pumps.
So did i do something wrong? or is this pump just too small to feed the monster on the other end?
There is also a 40 micron filter in between the pumps, i figured the evo 8 pump would be able to push it through that no problem.
Before the pump addition i had the filter before the 044 from the sump and it would cavitate , so maybe the filter is my problem?
