-6an tank to rail question

I am working on a -6an feed setup and am wondering what fitting to use to attach to the factory fuel pump sending unit? The threads are the same as a -6an fitting but it isn't a flare. Will a -6an straight swivel fitting seal up?

The Vfaq recomends teflon tape. I used some and have no leak.

if your going to use teflon tape on fuel fittings it should be the yellow tape which is fuel and oil resistant.

Your profile says you have a GST, but that's a GSX pump hanger...


I'd really recommend cutting that whole tube off and welding a -6 AN bung right to the tp of the assembly.

That was just a genertic picture, it was raining so I couldn't snap a pic of my unit. Florida weather its been raining twice a day for the last two weeks really hindering the build.

I drilled mine and used a bulkhead fitting like this:

No welding required, I just sealed it with two new aluminum washers (like on an oil drain plug) and a tiny bit of RTV. My tank is still airtight after a couple years of daily summer use.

Why wouldn't that work on a 2g? My sender is all metal.

There generally isnt enough room under the assembly on a 2g. The pump sits right below the top of the housing.

Not to mention that it's tough to find a large enough flat spot on the top of the plate that is also completely flat on the bottom side.

I speak from experience. I tried it on my 2g gsx and theres not enough room. Not to say it cant be done with alot of modification. But its not worth the time. Full blown pump hangars are nicer looking anyway.
