Please help car wont rev past 1500 rpm.

SO every time i ask for help every one says do a boost leak so just to get that out of the way i already have done it and fixed all the leaks. ne way my car wont rev past 1500 rpm. it dosnt matter if its warmed up or not. it does it under WOT and half throttle. i have no CELs and no data logger to see whats going on. bought the car not running needed a coilpack. got that it starts and idles at 750 rpm and will SLOWLY rev up to 1500 and just holds there. timed it and rechecked countless times. did a vac delete, replaced turbo (old one had lots of play in every direction), o2 sensor, timing belt, plugs wires, fuel filter, air filter, cant remeber what else. im lost PLEASE HELP.:banghead:
 
Replace the fuel pump. It sounds like the motor isn't gettin enough fuel and since you replaced the filter, the pump is what I'd replace next. I'd go with a 255 so you never have to upgrade in the future. I'd also replace the fuel lines and upgrade them to a slightly larger line for better flow. Get back to me with any updates or new details.

Also, are you running a recuculated or vented BOV?
 
If it won't rev over 1500 RPM you have a lot to check starting with compression. Then make sure it firing on all 4, verify cam and ignition timing. Make sure the throttle is opening. Pretty much check everything but I'm expecting you'll find a serious problem early on.

Check the fuel lines, and if you get a 255 fuel pump, be sure to get a new fpr of your choice that can handle it, the stock one will fail eventually, or right away.

Also check to make sure the fuel pump is getting all of the vlts its suppose to, that may be the reason its not getting enough fuel. The only other thing i can think of is if the injectors are not working right or the fpr is bad. go to a junk yard and try pulling stock ones there to see if it helps before you go buy the exspensive stuff.:hmm:

Yes, forgot to say that :p whenever you upgrade the pump always get an upgraded FPR and rewire the pump :thumb:
 
im with colt check that cat pop the exhaust from the o2 housing and run it see if that makes a difference if u havent already gotta move air out to get air in to raise rpm
 
ok disconected cat no change, ill checked fuel pressure next. also prevous owener said he put a eprom in it could the wrong year of ecu cause this problem he said he thinks its a 91 and the car is 90.
 
ok so update ive got spark and fuel mas is fine injectors are good. physical timing and igition timing are dead on. but i still need to know how a car would act if it has the wrong year of ecu the prevouse owner said he thought he put in a 91 eprom ecu i have the old one too it had leaking caps it smelled like dead fish. i took the one out thats in it and it is an eprom and i know 90 eproms are rare. how can i tell what year the ecu is.
 
The ECU should have a part number on it and there should be a number printed on the white edge connector if you take the cover off. The number on the connector will match the last 4 numbers on the E2T number on the case if it matches the case. Either way you can match the board and case to the list on my site http://simon.chi.il.us/ECU/ECUID.html

I still don't see compression numbers, or verification that all four cylinders are firing.

You can compare the numbers on your ECU to this table:
Eclipse Talon Laser Galant 3000GT Stealth ECU ID Reference

It is best to use the number on the white connector because theoretical the metal case can have a sticker that differs from the PCB.

For a Turbo AWD the numbers you want are 4478 though I believe that the FWD ECU 4474 will also work.

to steve im getting spark on all four plugs fuels good as well. as for compression test i have to wait till i get paid to buy a tester. would there be any cels or any signs that the ecu is the wrong year. ill check the code on the ecu tomorrow when i can get to my car since its at my grandfathers garage right now.
 
WHen I hear some having problem like your having, I tell them to check boost leaks(which you have), knock sensor, MAF, clogged cat, timing, and TPS. If you checked all those and they all check out, I have no clue what it could be.
 
Hmmm...Since the car will not idle past 1500 my guess would have been a bad TPS. Good luck with the troubleshooting and keep us updated on progress.
