Ok so you guys im in need of some advice.
My plan was to run the fp green turbo on my 2gen 97 eclipse gst
Because I am looking for a good street/strip turbo to run.i did my researched and ended up making my mind and wanted to get the fp green.i called fp but they told me that the fp green was not available and didnt know when they were going to be making them again.so they made me an offer in getting the fp 3176hta turbo.they told me it was capable in making 400hp just like the green but the spool was a little later so im wondering if any of you have ran that turbo kit or are running it and if so how is it.is it worth it???:hmm:

I actually have one of these kits, but haven't installed it yet. I have heard slightly higher HP numbers than 400 with all supporting mods. I think it is a great deal and sprung for it. You save a lot of money if you consider everything that comes with it.

DZ Sparkle 18X8 with a Dark Silver Finish and a Black Time Attack Stripe. I bought the car with them on already so that made my rim selection easy LOL. I love them! Rota has a set of rims that look like them. I cant wait to get back home and put that turbo on though. It seems that no one has this turbo or just hasn't reviewed it yet

This is interesting news. Did that turbo not get a complete revamp a year or so ago?

I thought it did too. I was in the market for a TD06H 20g when I stumbled across this deal. I figured a bit of a bigger setup with all the add ons included for $1900 couldnt be beat. I think the Green with all the bells and whistles came in a little more than that. No doubt, the Green is still a really good turbo. Im just waiting for someone to actually get the 3176 installed so we can see what she can do. I was told it is alot like the 3052 with a little more beef, and journal bearing not ball bearing

The only thing about that turbo which scares me is that it uses the Garrett T3 center housing, a design with notable flaws in the thrust system and fragile oiling. I wish they could have incorporated this compressor into a turbo with a MHI center housing, but I suppose it would then be too close in size to the Green and compete for sales.

The 3176 is the same turbo as the 3150 and 3160 that FP used to sell with a new HTA billet compressor and improved compressor cover as well.

Makes me wonder then if the issues with it were addressed. Well since I have it I might as well run it and see what happens. Worst come to worse I have to pick up another turbo with an external setup. I will already have the manifold and rest of the setup. Maybe go ball bearing! My biggest complaint is the o2 housing. God its gorgeous but now I have to put the vband on my DP to get it to mate up, spoils of war though I guess

Currently I have the SSAC front mount, but I am putting a PR FMIC back on. In my opinion, you dont need to spend the money on the ETS unless you are going to be doing some hardcore racing. I got my PR off of their Ebay store for 399.99 shipped, but their website is a little cheaper Punishment Racing FMIC Kit: 95-99 Eclipse/Talon I like it and its short route already. I also like how the flange on it can accept a Greddy or a 1g BOV so I ordered the Forge BOV to eliminate the knock off Greddy that comes with it.

Any Greddy or 1g flanged BOV will fit. They have holes for both setups. If you put a 1g flanged BOV on it make sure you get the gasket for it also. I believe it comes with one for the free Greddy knock off you will get with the kit. I just am not a fan of Greddy and I got a BOV that was flanged for a 1g. If you want to run a Tial you will need to get the adapter and have it welded on.

Also if you are a HKS fan you can order this EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts and get the universal HSK EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts and it would make it a bolt on instead of having to weld on the HKS flange.

I was going to tell you that if you are going to run this turbo setup, you might want to look into injectors and link as well. I have FIC 1150s which are sufficient. Always make sure you have the proper mods before you just bolt on a turbo. You are also going to need a 3" DP (Megan or PR) to weld on the Vband for the 3" o2 housing that comes with this kit. I talked to Amber from FP and she told me that the flange is in the kit to weld on.

You should also update your profile so we know what mods are done so it's a little easier for us to help you

Oh ok I will when I put some of the things I have bought in there.
With the downpipe im going to go with the apexi n1 downpipe and muffler.
So these are the things I have alredy:
-fp intake
-fp 3176hta turbo kit
-fp 255 fuel pump kit
-sbc type ss clutch with kevlar disk

The only thing I have installed is the clutch and kevlar disk.

The Apexi DP is 2.5" to the flex pipe so I would recommend going with a Megan or Punishment because they bottleneck down right after the flange to 3" which you will need to put the vband flange on, not to mention they are way cheeper. I have been hearing nothing but good things about the Megan turbo back kit. I have an Apexi full system and its ok, but you can get the same quality and save some money for the injectors you will need if you get the megan or punishment full system. Dont forget, if you get big injectors now and link to tune them, you wont need to buy injectors again in case you decide to run a bigger system later. I recommend 1150s or bigger and just tune them accordingly. Plus that leaves you room for e85 if you want to run that. (My plans BTW)

The Megan and Punishment are the exact same piece in all reality. Its a preference really. I like dealing with the guys at Punishment. I ordered an HKS carbon ti from them one day and it was at my door 2 days later. Just do some research on everything before you purchase things. I read this forum and search things religiously before I even think about buying things. Fitment is the biggest issue because alot of exhaust companies dont play well with others.

I've just bought an HTA fp green about a month ago for 999.00 on their listing. After that, they didn't seems to have that deal anymore for that price, but they still have the fp green listing up for 1299.00. I didn't understand why they had two listings, one for 999.00 and the other for 1299.00.

The Megan and PR downpipes I've had are not the same, at least for the 1g. The PR pipe is full 3" from flange to flange - yet, the first few inches are dented near the bolt holes of the flange to allow for the 2.5" flange bolt holes. The Megan pipe transitions from 3" to 2.5" pipe just before the inlet flange. Does that really matter much? Not really, but it's a difference. And maybe one of the other have changed their design since, I don't know.

They both bottle neck at the flange from 2.5" to 3" but I was wrong. I just read that the 1g Punishment DP retains the cat and the 2g does not, but from what I am reading, both PR and MR start at 2.5" at the flange and almost immediately go to 3". I believe MR just changed their design not too long ago

Ludacris do you think the pr downpipe could fit the fp 3176hta vband o2 housing
That's 3'?and connect to the 3' thermal R&D?
I'm banking on the PR downpipe fitting the HTA DSM76 with cast O2 housing, as that's what I will be running. The downpipe will obviously have to be chopped and modified to fit the v-band housing, but the PR downpipe I have is 3" all the way to the inlet flange, so it should work out okay - though army94e mentioned above that it's different on the 2g downpipes, so I'm not sure. I also have a v-band on the outlet of my downpipe, as I plan to have a full v-band exhaust on my 1g.

The 3" Thermal catback exhaust I had a while back had a transition to a stock sized flange on the inlet. You might have to get it chopped off and have a 3" piece welded on to make it a true 3" all the way through - that's what I did. It's not that expensive to have a local exhaust shop do it.

Yea thats the issue im having with my HKS carbon right now, it doesnt fit as is so I have to take it to the shop and have it modified. I think with the DP though if it is hacked and welded right at the bottleneck it will fit the o2 housing perfectly. The o2 housing looks a little longer on this setup.

And I think FP made the housing longer intentionally, knowing that some downpipes would need to be modified a little further downstream due to the size transitions. I'd imagine most downpipes would work because of this.
