Had a mishap with my build and now wondering how different are the FWD turbo and NON TURBO transmissions are.

Are they interchangable such as, connections? Or maybe the speedometer gear?

Will the drive axles fit in the right location as my N/T one did before this build,
Say a 91-92 FWD Turbo Tranny, with a 91 Turbo engine, Fit with a 94 Eagle N/T body.

I am at a closing to this as ACT does not offer a 6 bolt FWD non turbo flywheel and the closest used one/s are states away and could possibly be junk anyway with no return policy.

Any thoughts/opinions are very appreciated, I will continue to search.

I have a fwd with a turbo trans but i have turbo act flywheels with the clutch. Thats the only way ive done mine. Bell housings in the turbo is different, is bigger to accept the larger flywheel. Also i had to get the correct starter plate forgot which one. Going AWD soon with another car.

With your turbo trans/clutch/flywheel, aswell as your turbo engine I presume, is there any difference between the TURBO models and the NT models as far as locations of sensors and things of that nature.

QUOTE=crusada;152518058]There was a thread on this a few days ago and we found out its more hassle then its worth. because no one makes the clutch it seems as you have probably already seen.[/QUOTE]

Can you link me to the thread please?

Yes unfortunately I found out they do not make flywheels for 6 Bolt FWD NT, I called ACT today and talked to them personally.

If a Turbo FWD transmission will be compatible with my drive axles and the rest of the connections and mounts I will go ahead and do so.

Thanks for your input, i delayed this build for too long on for stupid reasons, time to get it done, and done right.

Senors -- reverse lights and speedometer gear -- are the same.

Axles get a little hairy as far as part numbers go. Here's a basic rundown with respect to 1Gs:
  • All 2.0L FWD non-turbo axles are the same
  • Turbo FWD manual transmission axles up to July of '92 (should include all '92 and earlier models) were the same as the non-turbo axles
  • Turbo FWD manual transmission axles from July of '92 (should include all '93 and later models) through the end of the 1G production run were larger diameter; they don't fit earlier model transmissions
  • Turbo FWD automatic transmission axles are different from any other FWD axle used; similar to the manual transmission axles, these had a change in part number in July of '92, likely also to move up to larger diameter axles

This thread has some good info on transmission options for your situation: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-turbo-system-intercooler/48231-installing-turbo-4g63-into-nt-4g63.html

The turbo transmission will bolt right up to your N/T engine as long as you use a turbo clutch and flywheel. I ran my N/T engine like that for over 5 years with no problems. The only issue I see for you is the the late 92-94 1gs had larger axles, so if you are using a '91 turbo transmission the axles might not fit. Everything else (shifter cables, backup swirch, speedo cables, etc) will hook up just like normal.

Hope this helps!

*Edit, Dang it Brian! You're lucky I'm replying on my phone, otherwise I would have gotten my reply in first. :ohdamn: ROFL
