Ive been reading a lot of the piece a turbo system for for under a 1000. the question is can i start the setup with out hurting performance. can i run the turbo fuel injectors , fuel pump and exhaust system. i know everybody says sell the car and by a gst. i am not looking to be the fastest. i wanted to run at least 8 psi

you don't need to change injectors, stock are fine for 8 psi. If you change pumps to a walbro 255hp, you may need an afpr....some cars do, some don't. You can change the exhaust if you wish, just remember if you do and you go larger than 2.25" you will most likely loose some low end torque.

Here is a better question. Why? If its because you dont have the money to buy everything at once, then buy them piece by piece and install them when you get everything. If its because you cant have downtime with the car and wanna do it piece by piece, well then find another project.

Smart Answer IMO

Don't Try to piece it together slowly, Like what was already said, buy everything then install at once.

If you have a clean 98 sell it and buy a Gst or gsx. You could put a 14b with a host controller and gauge and be faster than a gs with 8psi and you would probly have money left over. Also that's a real reliable combo. That's my opinion and I've seen it done by a not so smart person. They even had to sell there gs. He even pulled a 14 flat with that combo on 12psi

i dont see a problem in doing it step by step. then you can learn what each thing is doing and how your car reacts. Also if something goes wrong or you didnt install something right it will be easier to determine whats wrong apposed to installing everything at once and wonder what the hell is going on. but thats just my two cents.

Because you are installing turbo parts on a car THAT CANT EVEN USE THEM. Put a huge fuel system (compared to what is stock on your 420a) and try to let it work for your non boosted application. Its not gonna work very well and you are going to have a very hard time, especially with no tuning.

i understand that with the injectors and what not. but you really dont need new injectors for running 8psi. would it do any harm to install the fuel pump and exhaust? i dont think so, but just remember that your going to be messing with that stuff again for the downpipe and such so it may or maynot be easier to work with off the car...

installing a pump{unless its a 190 or evo pump...) with no regulator would not be a smart thing at all. and even with the 190 and evo pumps, i would still put a turbo regulator on it.

as for the exhaust...kinda hard to put a full exhaust made for a turbo car on a non-turbo. so unless hes planning on buying two seperate exhausts, or just a catback for some reason. it would be pointless and impossible to do as well

Well i recently just bought a exhaust manifold am i going to need a different one when i go turbo or could i just port the head and the manifold

and can i at least setup a different throttle body. when i go turbo whats the best size 57mm or 60mm

N/a mani and turbo manifolds are different, do you have a picture of it?

Turbo manifolds are, for the most part, shorter, while N/A manifolds are long and reach down to the cat.
To use a n/a mani I would imagen it would need some major moddification

I'm in the middle of a turbo swap on my 420a. I have the fuel pump, missing link that I modified. I haven't done the fmu yet cause I'm big and can't fit under my carLOL, I have no problems running parts yet. Once I get my turbo and bov ill install and get going.

That manifold isn't compatible with a turbo.

You can run a bigger throttle body without the turbo, for sizes, I dont know, some one else can chime in on that.

MEGAN RACING STAINLESS STEEL HEADER 95-99 ECLIPSE GS RS - eBay (item 200560162024 end time Jan-29-11 17:47:47 PST)

here is the picture of the exhaust manifold. i don't think its a megan racing but it looks identical

That is a header and not a manifold. Your gonna need a turbo manifold to bolt the turbo onto.
Things you will need/should do:
Oil pan with welded fitting for the oil return
safc, or fuel management system
injectors/ afpr depending
oil feed/return
restrictor(depending on the turbo)
fuel pump
air fuel gauge/boost gauge.
new throttle body(not sure about this one)
fmic, and pipes and couplers
new air intake to fit onto the coldside
turbo, and the correct turbo manifold
Time an patience
Maybe more things as you come along, hope this helps. You can piece one together youself for cheaper. Get everything and put it on! Good luck!

Take your time, buy all the right parts and install them all at once as a complete kit. I wouldn't try to boost a non turbo engine but if your hearts set on it, do it all at once. It just makes sense.
