So alice is a awd .... thinkin bout takin out the awd part and convertin it to fwd .... I never drove it and a lot more powers gonna be goin through her I don't realy wanna upgrade the rear carier or ne thing so should I just pound it till it blows the gears out or just take it out now
 
Not sure why anyone would want to go FWD over AWD.

Drive it til you destroy it, then fix it better than it was.
 
Lol 2 reasons I started this thread a just wanted outside opinions on it . I'm not trying to dump a whole lot more money in this project when the motors done ima have close to 9000 in it and I have a built 2wd trans so its a ideal I've been kickin around and I'm trying to get outa newbie status LOL I just wanted fresh ideals mostly I'm gettin riters block on this car and it sucks:ohdamn:

I really hope you're high or drunk. AWD suspension will hold alot more than a fwd will. Cory bowers was on stock axles at 550awhp with almost 100k originial miles on a stock 7 bolt witha 35r and just broke one of the rear axles a few months ago and i'm sure replaced it with a stock axle. :hellyeah:
 
I've done so many eclipse talon builds its retarded I just sold my 98 gsx and a 97 gst to pay for the build on this I wanna go all out on this car but like I said for me to have the awd trans well not so much the trans but the carrier and transfer case upgraded to handle the projected hp\tq of the motor its gonna cost me lik 3200 more :cry: I've already got over 3000 into the motor and still need a intake throtttle body injectors a turbo cams fuel computer wiring harness ...... and I would love to have it done by june . And I have a stg 2 fwd trans just sittin I wanna keep it awd but money idk just was a question
 
I'll sell you a BBK 75mm TB 4.6L flanged if you want it for 110 shipped.

on another note, DSM"s are money pits. Pretty much like children, when they want something you gotta get them it to make them happy otherwise they go crazy (meaning if you don't get the DSM something it'll break anyway so you gotta get it.) if that even makes sense to you.

On a second note:

If you're putting near10k on the car; I'd absolutely stay with all-wheel-drive. Why cheap out on the second most awesome part about our cars? (First part being the 4g63t of course.)
 
Your gonna break more stuff with FWD than AWD. Unless you have an LSD

Eh, I don't believe that is necessarily true. I know someone that put down 656fwhp and on slicks I don't believe he ever broke an axle. Tranny was messed up a few times but it was a stock tranny so its not surprising. There are a ton more things to break on an awd than there is on a fwd. Plus spinning helps decrease stress on the drivetrain.
 
Trust me I know about how these cars are money pits LOL my gst I had well over 9000 into her before I sold her I fix these cars driveem for a year or so then get bored I'm in them for the build .hell one of my more fav project was a 420a 98 gs I had 335 to the wheels on a n\a build that one was fun . And the guy that asked was I high or drunk . Not high maybe was off a lil jack LOL but like I said all my other friends are honda pukes and look at me sorta lost when I ask them for opinions so that's why I'm on here I've always kinda looked around on this site but never realy asked ne thing so I appreciate the critisiim and the ideals .
 
Dude, the word you are looking for is "idea". Ideal means something totally different.

(ie: Switching your AWD car to FWD would be less than ideal, but your idea is to hodgepodge something together with the parts you already have.)

On another "ideal" note..... Is this thread even serious?? Dude you sold the wrong car, shoulda kept the gs-t with supposedly 9k into it.... You would have saved so much time and money

Ok in all seriousness... If you wanted to go all out with that car, why would you let fwd's spinning tires slow you down? Do like said above sell the staged transmission and upgrade your drivetrain

I call BS! If you actually did this I need proof, last I knew bullet had around 212 and that took serious work. I need a mod list and dyno sheet for this to even be remotely true.

You should toss up some stuff on that build. That has to be a record of some sort!!! Sounds wicked.

Anyway, the simple to your question is, no. Don't convert your AWD to FWD. Sell you FWD tranny to fund a rebuild to your AWD tranny.

And one last thing, why are you trying to get new ideaLs? :p

420a build btw there was 2 mine actauly came out the runt.. crank by eagle knife edged balanced by mayfair pro shop eagle rods je pistons .40 over acr bearings stage 2 head ported bc cams 242s 650 injectors custom intake hks cam gears crower valves and springs oem oil pump 2.5 stratus fuel pump mpx 60mm throttle body gates timming belt apexi safc2 zoom stg2 clutch and flywheel set koyo rad cutsom cold air down tube custom 2 inch eaqual length header into greddy 3 inch cat back livernois flashed ecu ac and ps delte ...... mine came out 335 my friend did his almost the exact same and he got 357 I think maybe more but his block ended cracking in the webbing between 3 and 4 mine just got bored and sold it some kid in toledo has it still to this day but he's beat the shit out of it

this will be my 10th 2g I've built and the most expensive hell I don't even have the whole bottom end done and I'm 3000 after machine work and parts and I just can't seem to get ideals together on this one I'm stuck and I guess I shoulda just kept my mouth shut instead of a simple yea or no I get hammered like shit but I take it as it is

And the 420 build yea deeeeeeeeeep pockets for that one this build is gonna be :ohdamn:double

I can understand that. It seems like us DSM'rs are gluttons for punishment. I have 2 down right now getting full rebuilds. My pocket is completely dry!

I know you're getting a lot of flack, but DSM'rs are hostile and skeptical by nature. 10 into the game, and I'm sure you know that.

Again, along with the majority, the short answer to your question is no. Your best option is selling the FWD tranny and sticking with the AWD drivetrain

Your best option is selling the FWD tranny and sticking with the AWD drivetrain[/QUOTE I'm posting the trans tonite stickin with the awd and as for skeptical I know I was a rwd v8 man till I got dusted by the rustiest ugliest 1g laser in toledo all I can say is I've owned tweaks auto for 5 years now and have done some wicked builds hybrids (91 ranger 4g63t 500 hp was my fav) I have a starion I'm builing and a 89 crx in the bays as well alice (my project tsi) is somthing I want different I was lookin for new ideals and I got a few from here and other builders I haven't posted anything new in the build log ### my cam took a shit but so far I got a manley 100mm crank knife edged cryo treated manley billet h beam rods wiseco stroker pistons acr 3 layer bearings brian crower b\s delete arp head and main studs and some odds and ends for fuel supply I've been so wraped up in the motor I was lookin for outside advice from a new perspective on drive train belive it or not all u guys helpd me get off my ass LOL and do it right instead of bein lazy
